PBMS Vision
PBMS strives to be a place where students want to come to school, parents want to send their children and staff want to come to work.
Message from the Principal
Wow! We have just 20 days left of school. It will go by fast. This week our students started the CAASPP Test (State assessment) in English. Everyone worked on Part 1 - multiple choice and short answer section. Students in 6th grade and 7th & 8th graders with English on an A day are finishing up Part 2 - the performance task which is an extended essay. Next week, 7th & 8th graders with English on a B day writhe their extended essay starting on Monday. Eighth graders take the science test on Wednesday (B) or Thursday (A). Math for all students begins on May 12. Please encourage your child to keep up the good work and stay strong. Stamina is definitely tested here. Once testing is done, we start to celebrate. Be sure to check out the calendar linked below for the end of year events.
Mandarin Immersion Parent Meeting - If you are the parent of a 6th grader or 5th grader in the Mandarin Immersion program, there are two opportunities for you to learn about changes in the program for the following school year. Despite losing all Mandarin funding from the district, we believe the program will be stronger with our new approach. Join us online Thursday, May 8th at 5:00pm or Friday, May 9 at 9:00am to learn more. Check out the post below with the Microsoft Teams link.
State Testing Schedule: Click the link for the full schedule: Testing Calendar . Teachers have been asked to refrain from giving tests or making large projects due during the testing window. We worked to shorten the testing window by one week this year to allow for classroom and projects before and after the testing window. PBMS had a high rate of CAASPP exemptions last year. We did not meet the 95% participation rate and received penalties on our published scores. Please encourage your child to take the test and do their best.

Safety:
- Before & After School: As we approach summer, it is a great time to review your family behavior and safety expectations in the community: wear helmets, obey traffic signs, use the crosswalk, be polite, follow posted rules, etc. In the last few weeks, community members have shared concerns about unsafe e-bike riding and students misbehaving at the PB Rec Center. We have notified individual families of issues but it is important for all of us to help our students make better decisions.
- Parking Lot: Check out this 8th grade community project on safety in the school parking lot: LINK - must be signed in as a student to view
