Please note that Tuesday, April 15 will be a school day for ONLY 8th GRADERS. There will be no classes for 6th and 7th grade students. During this time, our 8th graders will be taking their Science CMAS tests. Only 8th graders need to attend that day. If you have any questions, please contact Megan Haggstrom - 303-982-9817.
GMHS Flag Football Informational Meeting
Think you might be interested in playing flag football at Green Mountain High School next year? Not sure, but curious to learn more about the sport?
If so, come to our informational meeting on April 6 at 5pm at Green Mountain High School. We’ll be meeting in the Commons. This meeting is for potential players, returning players, and their parents/guardians.
We’ll talk about the team, the new summer skills camp for rising 7th-9th graders, summer practices, and the upcoming season.
We had an incredible season last year, and we’re planning on another one!
Attention Parents of Current Dunstan Students
In an effort to provide more resources for parents of incoming 6th grade students, we would like to create an "Advice Guide" from current/former middle school parents to those who are about to have a student enter their first year of middle school. This is OPTIONAL but we would love your advice/feedback! If you are so inclined, please fill out the Google form HERE. All submissions will remain anonymous.

6th and 7th Grade Parents
6th and 7th grade Advise Classes just finished their first unit in our new SEL curriculum, In Control. These last few weeks they have been focused on Growth Mindset. Here are a few ways takeaways:
• A “Mindset” is a set of beliefs that shape how you see the world.
• People with a “Growth Mindset” believe that new abilities can be developed.
• People with a “Fixed Mindset” see their qualities and abilities as fixed traits that cannot change.
• Neuroplasticity is the scientific proof that our brains were meant to adapt in response to learning.
• The goal shouldn’t be, “immediately great or I’m not trying it again.”
• The goal SHOULD be, “I can’t do this YET.”
What you can do at home:
- Continue to encourage your child to embrace their failures as learning experiences.
- Praise your child based on effort, not on achievement.
- Allow your child time to reflect after failures.
8th Grade Parents
8th grade Advise classes finished their first unit from our new SEL curriculum, In Control. The topic they've been covering the last few weeks is around "Having a High School Mindset." Here are a few takeaways:
• ALL GRADES COUNT in high school. Even “electives” count toward your GPA.
• Playing “catch-up” with your grades is MUCH harder and MUCH LESS FUN in high school.
• Follow the upperclassmen’s leads when it comes to how to conduct yourself (from a maturity standpoint).
• As an 8th grader, you have a responsibility to help the 6th graders to be successful.
• If you want to be respected as an older student, you must act like an adult when you want to make change.
