Something to think about...
Dear Parents (especially of students in grades 3-6),
As of today, many of your children have completed the PSSAs with the exception of fourth grade and a few make-ups. I feel like now is a great opportunity to remind everyone of my three goals at Jamison.
- Student Safety
- "Wanttoedness" (I want kids to want to come to school!)
- Academics
Parents,
For a list of reasons, state testing can produce stress on so many. I do realize that the PSSAs are important, but they won't define your child or this school. Here is a quote that sums up my feeling about the test.
"Try your hardest, do your best, but always remember, you're more than a test!"
Scholastic Spring BOGO Book Fair
The Scholastic Spring BOGO Book Fair is quickly approaching! The book fair will be held in the library from May 13th-17th. A copy of the class schedule has been distributed and a reminder will arrive home this week attached to the preview flier! Please take note of your student’s scheduled shopping time and that family night is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15th from 6pm-8pm. We are encouraging families to use the new eWallet option for payment! If paying by eWallet, you will be entered into a drawing to win a Rita’s Water Ice gift card! Visit http://www.scholastic.com/bf/jamisonelementaryschool2 to sign up to use the eWallet payment option. Thanks for supporting Jamison and the love of reading!

News from the Nurse
Spring has Sprung!
Here are a few guidelines from the health office to help keep students safe at school:
Students should always wear proper footwear to school. Footwear such as sandals and flip flops can be slippery when running and expose a large amount of the foot to injury. Sneakers offer better protection.
If your child takes allergy medication, be sure to give it to them prior to school. We do not stock this type of medication in the health room. It may also be helpful for them to have allergy eye drops before coming to school on the days when the pollen count is high. We can give them an additional dose of Visine later in the day if their eyes become itchy again.
Consider applying sunblock to your child prior to coming to school on sunny days.
Students should not use crutches in school unless prescribed by a physician. Crutches should be properly fitted to your child’s size and proper education is important prior to use.
Field Trip Information
If your child receives a daily dose of medication during school hours and must take it on a field trip, you must submit it in a sealed envelope with written administration instructions to your child’s teacher. Controlled substance must be hand delivered to the teacher.
You are also required to provide emergency medication such as inhalers or Epi-pens if your child has one prescribed. We do not provide your child’s supply from the health room unless you do not have an extra supply at home to send. Please call the health office prior to the trip if this is the case.
