Smith Families,
Thank you for all your support during our Raise Craze fundraiser! Our students so enjoyed working on their Acts of Kindness in the classrooms and sharing what they were doing outside of school. If you have not had a chance to check out our school Facebook page please do so to view all the students accomplished.
I also wanted to thank all parents for attending fall parent teacher conferences. We had 98% attendance! What a great reflection on our school community and the parent support we have at Smith.
With all the hustle and bustle this time of year it feels likes germs are active too! We have been discussing the importance of hand washing, hand sanitizer, not putting hands and other items in our mouth, taking home water bottles to clean and not sharing food or snacks. If you could also have the conversation with your child that would be great! Our custodians do a great job keeping our school clean and we need to do our part as well.

Family Engagement
We value our family engagement events and love to have our families come together. Math night was a huge success this past week! Thank you for those that were able to attend and our students and staff that helped out.
For our December family event staff is organizing a "Jingle Jam". Save the date for December 19th in the afternoon. More information to come.
We also have Saber Packs that will begin today! Teachers have sent out the link in class newsletters but I have included it below. Please make sure if you have one signed out that all items are returned. Hope you enjoy them!
Music Update November
K-2 November Strands
- I am learning to keep the steady beat.
- I am learning to connect sounds with symbols.
- I can sing a short melody.
- I can speak and play patterns of long and short sounds.
3-5 November Strands
- I am learning to accompany myself or others.
- I am learning to read, write and perform rhythmic notation.
- I am learning to perform and improvise using a pentatonic scale.
- I am learning to recognize same and different parts of music.
Kindergarten Sibling Registration
Kindergarten sibling registration has begun. Please register siblings before Christmas break. Kindergarten registration for all will open January 8th. See attached document for all information
Student Climate Survey
Helena Public Schools continues to work to develop systems of academic and social-emotional support linked directly to the assessed needs of our students.
This month we will ask 3rd through 8th grade students to provide us with feedback on how we are doing to support them at school. This survey is called the Student School Climate Survey.
The Student School Climate Survey will provide your child an opportunity to share their perspective of their school experience. Students will provide feedback with regards to what they feel is going well in their school community, as well as what they feel would enhance their school experience.
Thank you for your willingness to assist Helena Public Schools in building a system of student supports that is linked directly to data.
We will be conducting the screening from November 18th to November 26th. Please contact my office via email or phone by November 15, 2024, if you wish to have your child opt out of the screening.
