Principal Update
Each week I will be highlighting grade levels that are examples of making Rose Elementary School the "Place to B" by following expected behaviors and demonstrating the Character Strong, our new SEL curriculum, theme of the month. For August, we are focusing on Kindness.
This week, I am pleased to share with you the many ways that 3rd grade has shown Kindness and the different ways that we can "Be Kind-Be Strong-Be Well." During indoor recess, I observed 3rd grade students politely inviting other students to join their games or activities; students sharing materials, and students encouraging one another when they were "losing" or not doing well in the game. The lunchroom supervisors told me on Thursday, that 3rd grade behavior during lunch was amazing, and the best they have seen yet! I want to give a shout-out to the individual 3rd grade student who showed expected behavior by asking for adult help with a frustrating situation with the bathroom instead of managing it on their own. Shout out to the 3rd grade student who put the kind note in my mailbox ;) I'm sure there a more examples I could share!
Yesterday, Mr. Rife and I met with all of the grade levels to discuss expected behaviors and the different ways that we can "Be Kind-Be Strong-Be Well" throughout our day at Rose from recess to riding the bus.Thank you for your continued support in fostering these qualities at home. Together, we are helping our students grow not just academically, but also as compassionate and responsible individuals. I look forward to being able to highlight a different grade level each week!

Student Arrival and Dismissal
Students can arrive on campus starting at 7:40 AM Monday-Friday. Please do not drop off your child before then as we will not have adult supervision in place.
In an effort to maintain safety, please use the crosswalk when parking and walking to the building during morning arrival. This allows for flow of the car traffic to move efficiently and safely.
To be able to safely monitor the car pick-up line, we are only allowing students to enter the car if it is in the yellow striped zone in front of the building.
If your child has left materials our items in the buildings and would like to return to their locker or classroom, after 2:50, students will need to check-in with the office.
Score Reports for the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR)
Individual Score Reports for 4th and 5th grade students who took the Assessment last spring will be sent home in backpacks with students on Friday, September 6.
Assessment Updates
In support of our district's mission, "Empower personal excellence in every learner," we will be using several assessments throughout the school year to gather information that will help our teachers understand your child's strengths and needs so we can better utilize instructional strategies and resources when working with your child.
We will start administering assessments in our building the week of August 26. Here is a link to a letter that explains the different assessments that we use.
