LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Bright Beginnings Families:
The month of November is packed with fun things!
November is Kansas Reads to Preschoolers month. The book selected by the Kansas Library Association is "How Do You Hug a Porcupine" by Laurie Isop. You can listen to the author reading the book here in English or here in Spanish. Your child will also have the opportunity to hear the book at school.
We will have the second round of conferences during the first week of November. If your child did not have a conference in October, they should have one in November. Someone from your child’s classroom will reach out to schedule a time to meet with you. There will be no afternoon classes Nov. 7th and no school for all students November 8th for conferences.
Thanksgiving Break will be November 27th through the 29th. There will also be no school for afternoon session and a two hour early dismissal for full day classes on Nov. 26th. Bright Beginnings Staff is so thankful to have your child in our program!
This is another reminder that even as the weather gets colder, a requirement of our program is to take children outside if the weather is above 32 degrees. Please ensure that your child comes to school with clothing that is appropriate for the weather.

Physical Well-Being and Motor Development are important components for all children. The term "father" refers to fathers and other men who play a significant role in raising a child. This person may be a biological father, adoptive father, or stepfather. He may be a grandfather, another adult male family member, a foster father, a guardian, or the mother's significant other.
The Impact of Positive Father Engagement:
• School Readiness: Children enter school ready to learn and are comfortable in the school setting.
• Overall Behavior: Children experience fewer behavior problems and emotional difficulties.
• Verbal and Cognitive Skills: Children who have two actively engaged parents learn two different ways of thinking and problem solving and how these different ways can be accepted and included in the resolution of issues and decision-making.
• Confidence: Children who have ongoing relationships with their fathers and see them on a daily basis demonstrate greater confidence.
• Life Choices: Positive father role models influence the choices that children will make in their future relationships. This includes fathers who model positive problem-solving and who treat women and children with respect.
• Development of Empathy: Fathers help children understand how their actions impact the feelings of others.

BRIGHT BEGINNINGS CHILDCARE
Bright Beginnings Childcare
In October we have continued to welcome new families into our program. Our preschool aged children learned all about different types of clothing, food, and are now learning about the 5 senses. Our infant and toddler classrooms were learning about relationships through our curriculum, and have now switched to the unit “Our Busy Day”.
Parents, please remember to have 2 extra sets of clothes at daycare and to provide appropriate clothing for outside temperatures. We will be heading outside as long as the weather is appropriate. You can see our attached weather charts, we will be outside within the blue “comfortable outdoor play” sections. If the weather is within the yellow we may be outside for a short period of time with appropriate clothing on.
