On The Ridge
Spirit Week
Deeper Learning Expo
Last Week our students represented Oak Ridge at the 1st Deeper Learning Expo. Thank you to Mrs. Skirvan and Mrs. Gattoni who worked with students in learning more about how engineering can help the planet and of the important role of pollinators. Our students spoke passionately about their learning and impressed high school students, families, teachers, and administrators alike.
Turtle Release
Thank you to Mrs. Wesp's team for their successful release of the diamond back terrapin they have been raising this year. Sherman had his release party this week and the kids were happy to give him a proper send off.
Field Day 2024
What A Fantastic Day! The kids had beautiful weather, great energy, and had tons of fun. A special thank you to Mr. Schmich and Ms.Mooney for their organization, the PTA for the donation of the inflatable obstacle course, and all of the teachers for their support to make it such a great day for the kids. There are so many wonderful pictures, so please see the slideshow for all the fun.
Special Olympics
Congratulations to our team of Olympians who represented Oak Ridge at the Special Olympics in Barnstable! We are so proud of you for giving it your all. You embody the Special Olympics pledge, "Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
Young Philanthropists
Congratulations to Lily Noble and Cora Goers who raised money for charity this week and at field day to donate to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. This aquarium was made famous for their care of dolphin named Winter, with a damaged tail, in the film Dolphin Tale. Lily and Cora were inspired to help marine animals after doing research in Mrs. LeClair and Mrs. Ramsey's class. They made braclets and tie dyed hair ties to sell.
In total, they raised $650, which was donated on behalf of Lily, Cora and the Oak Ridge School.
The company that Lily's dad works for (National Grid US) offers a company match for charitable donations which may boost our total impact to $1,300.
We are so proud at how these young students took action to support a cause they believe in. Well done!
Community Action Day
Thank you to our parent and student volunteers who came out for the beach clean up as part of our annual Community Action Days through the 7C's class. Thank you to Mrs. MacDonald and Mrs. Gattoni for supporting these students efforts to put character into action.
6th Grade Celebration
End of School Party
The PTA is hosting a fun filled family event to celebrate the kick off to summer. It will be at the Oak Ridge School from 5-7pm. There will be music from DJ Ooch, Ice Cream, and Inflatable Games. Bring a picnic and a blanket and enjoy the day. This is not a drop off event and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
