KINDERGARTEN UPDATE
March 15, 2024
Greeting SELC PK Families,
March is full of observances and celebrations! Many of our staff, students, and families are observing Ramadan this month. March is also Women's History Month. Sunday is St. Patrick's Day and Holi is celebrated on March 25th!
- Ramadan is a time of fasting, spirituality, and reflection for Muslims.
- This year Women's History Month honors women who work for fairness and justice in their communities, families, workplaces, and social interactions.
- Holi is a Hindu spring festival also known as the festival of colors. Holi celebrates the coming of spring, the joy of friendship, and equality for all.
You may have heard your Eaglet discussing Space over the past few weeks. Prior to developing a space themed play scenario, students were exploring a unit focused on properties of matter. This unit went beyond sink and float to help student's understand density, buoyancy, absorption, volume, etc. The construction of a space themed play scenario allowed for additional practice using the vocabulary learned as well as supporting social/play skills, fine/gross motor development, executive function, problem solving/planning, math, literacy, and science. As this comes to an end, you will start hearing about coding and recycling.
A FEW REMINDERS:
- No School March 29th
- No School for Eaglets April 2nd
