PPCS Family in Need
A PPCS family recently experienced a fire in their home. If you would like to support them as they recover from their loss, gift cards from the following businesses are a great way to do so: WalMart, WinCo, Subway, Arby's, McDonalds, Paradise Grill, Humble Burger, or Panda Express. They are currently looking for an affordable three bedroom apartment and would appreciate any leads. Gift cards can be dropped off at the office or mailed to PPCS at 406 Powers Avenue. Thank you for demonstrating the EL Design Principle of Empathy & Caring!!

Landscaping News
The Landscaping Committee is excited to get going again for the new school year! We have a new Facebook page where we can share what we're doing with you - PPCS Landscape Committee. Please take a look!
We're starting some weekday afternoon get-togethers (stay tuned for a big weekend planting event, too!). We would love to have you pop by even if it’s just for a few minutes before or after pickup. We will be removing thistles from the playground area this first week, along with lots of other options for tasks. If you have a child who would like to add a new plant to the landscape, we will have some plants available for that.
If you don’t already know, our school primarily relies on volunteers to maintain our landscape, so we're always looking for more help! Since this is our first week back, we’ll celebrate with some special treats. We hope to see you this Wednesday, any time between 2:30 and 4 pm!
New MS Hip Hop Club
We have a new after school opportunity for middle school students this year! Lily Bren, an amazing self-taught hip hop dancer, will be providing a Hip Hop Club Wednesdays from 3:10 to 4:30 in the PPCS Multipurpose Room. The first Hip Hop Club meeting will be on September 11. Students can try their first class for free! Lily is a senior at the University of Idaho studying microbiology and has been expanding her Hip Hop training at the UI. She has been in many local community theatre productions where she developed her love of music and dance. Lily is looking forward to "learning Hip Hop in a new active way via teaching." Fees for this class will be $60 per semester. We appreciate payment in advance for the whole semester or $15 per month. A minimum of 5 students are needed for the class to run. The class is limited to 20 students. Please email the office to register your student.
Chinese After School Program
We will have a Chinese After School Program again this year! The program is open to 5th through 8th graders and meets Tuesday and Thursday from 3:05 pm to 3:55 pm in the multipurpose room. The first class will be Thursday, September 5. There is no charge for this program. Contact the office if you would like to register your student.
National Math Club & MATHCOUNTS Competition Series
We’re getting an early start on National Math Club / MATHCOUNTS at our school! MS Math Club is led by parent volunteer Ellery Blood, with support from Jake Sapozhnikov and PPCS teachers Ms. Kuhle and Ms. Hill. National Math Club (https://www.mathcounts.org/programs/math-club) is a program that gives middle-school students the opportunity to engage with math in a non-competitive, social environment. Interested students will also have the option to participate in the MATHCOUNTS competition series providing students the opportunity to compete in live contests against and alongside their peers.
Math Club will meet Wednesday mornings from 7:20 to 8:10 in the Ms. Kuhle's classroom. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 4. All students in grades 6 thru 8 are welcome. Fifth graders will be invited to join in the spring, after the competition series ends. If your child is interested, please follow this link to fill out the google form: https://forms.gle/bRqyJKxTBhqMWSwt6. Email Ellery Blood, Ellery_blood@selinc.com with any questions.
