SCHOLARSHIP UPDATE

Lake Country Power Les Beach Memorial HS Scholarship:

Deadline Jan 31
Seniors can apply for $4,000 scholarships ($1,000 each year for 4 years) from Lake Co Power. Parent/Guardian must be a member of Lake Country Power; GPA 2.5 or higher; Essay and 2 letters of recommendation are required.

Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation (GRACF.org) Scholarship Application Deadline: March 1

Application contains 140 scholarships totaling $170k from local businesses, organizations and individuals.

The Alworth Scholarship is for seniors in NE MN counties who are going into STEM majors after high school. Qualify for up to $24,000 distributed over eight semesters ($3,00 per semester)

Deadline is Jan 15

Thunderhawk Scholarship Application is the common application for GRHS managed local scholarships. Contact Heidi Clairmont at hclairmont@isd318.org with any questions or issues. Due Feb 20

Eligibility: All graduating Seniors of Grand Rapids High School or Area Learning Center who are continuing their education after high school are eligible to apply. This can be a public or private technical college, community college, or four-year college or university, both in person and virtually.

Foundation of Rural Service (FRS) Application Scholarship Deadline: February 14

• (30) $2500 scholarships. Express an interest to return to a rural community following graduation, as discussed in the essay.
• Guardian should be a member of Paul Bunyan Communications (when you make an NTCA account, choose Paul Bunyan out of Bemidji)

MN Telecom Alliance Foundation Scholarship Deadline: Feb 14

• (5) $2000 scholarships. Must be a member of a member service company (Paul Bunyan is one!) Must submit to the local Paul Bunyan office for signature by Feb 16

Park State Scholarship Information Deadline March 3

• (2) $2,500 scholarships; Seniors with GPA above 3.0. (2) Letters of recommendation are required; DO NOT need to be a Park State Bank customer; employee family members are not eligible

Mediacom World Class Scholars Scholarship Program:

Deadline: Mar 14

• (60) 1,000 awards; ALL HS Seniors graduating in 2025 and live in a Mediacom service area are eligible. (Grand Rapids is in the service area and you do NOT have to be a Mediacom customer to apply)
• Last year 6 MN students received awards out of th3 60 scholarships given

New Range Copper Nickel Mining for Excellence Scholarships (Previously the Polymet Mining for Excellence Scholarship) Deadline: Mar 31

Scholarships for STEM, Trade or Tribal students:

• STEM Scholarship: This scholarship is designed for students pursuing a future in STEM fields. Whether you aspire to be a scientist, engineer, programmer, mathematician, or researcher, this scholarship is aimed at helping you achieve your STEM-related dreams. Up to $5,000
• Trades Scholarship: The Trades Scholarship is tailored for students with a strong interest in skilled trades, including areas such as welding, hydraulics, mechanics, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and more. If you’re passionate about hands-on skills and want to excel in a trade, this scholarship is for you. Up to $5,000
• Tribal Scholarship: For students who are enrolled members of a tribal sharing geography with Minnesota or are first gen descendants. Up to $7,500
