Madrona Picture Day - MONDAY - SEPTEMBER 16, 2024
Classroom & Campus Spotlight!
Have you seen our newly resurfaced and painted blacktop by Opal Street? Students enjoy the volleyball and basketball courts during snack, lunch, and PE classes - one of the many favorite student spaces on our campus!
This week, Coach Amadio and Coach Lujan ran well-attended Boys' and Girls' Soccer tryouts. Additional tryouts are underway to determine which student-athletes will represent Madrona at the TUSD Middle School intramural games.
Staying Hydrated in Warm Weather
Although summer break is over, it's still the summer season, and we've been experiencing warmer weather than usual. Please remind your students to dress in light layers for school and stay hydrated throughout the day. We have four water bottle refill stations on campus for your student's convenience. Our district office frequently monitors the weather and air quality, providing us with guidance on physical activity during unusual weather conditions, as they did this past week. Stay cool, Wildcat Families!
iReady Testing & Information
This week, our students took their iReady Reading and Math Beginning of the Year assessment, that informs teachers (and students) where students are at their grade-level mastery of core competencies. Our English Language Arts and Math teachers will continue to use iReady's innovative MyPath instructional resources to support student academic growth. iReady information and instructions on interpreting student data will be shared with families once the assessment results are available.

Join Us on Sunday 10/20 For the Skechers Walk!
Students and families, let's ignite our school spirit by joining the 'Madrona Wildcats!' Team at the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk. As the South Bay's Best Public Middle School, we have a reputation to uphold. This event is not just a fundraiser; it's a chance for us to come together, show our pride, and make a difference at Madrona Middle School. Let's show everyone why we are THE BEST by signing up to attend and participate in this exciting event!
This fundraiser aims to support the Friendship Foundation and enhance our school. We aim to update our Cafeteria/Multi-purpose Room audio/visual system, which is frequently used for family meetings and student assemblies. We currently use an older model projector stationed on a rolling cart connected by multiple cables and power cords. If you have sat in one of our presentations before, you'll notice that this unit may hinder the view of school presentations.
Our fundraising goal of $18,000 is ambitious, but with your support, we can achieve it. This amount will cover the cost of purchasing and installing a new projector screen, ceiling-mounted digital projection system with a wireless connection, state-of-the-art speakers, mixer, equipment rackmounts, security cage, and ceiling-mounted drop-down microphone system for Drama class stage productions. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference. Another goal is to have our cafeteria repainted with our new logo incorporated into a unique and eye-catching design, a project that we can all be proud of.
We hope to see you walking with family and friends at the Skechers Walk on Sunday, October 20! If you can't attend, you can also sign up online to participate as a virtual walker.
