Reminders from Nurse Erdin
Cold & flu season has arrived. We have seen an increase in Flu cases (especially Flu A) across the state of Texas in these past few weeks. Here are some ways in which you can help boost your child’s immune system.
- Eating citrus fruits and berries with Vitamin C and flavonoids
- Ginger and leafy green vegetables are also important for immune health
- Try to get at least 30-60 minutes of exercise several days a week
- Get 7-9 hours of restful sleep each night
As a reminder, students with a temperature of 100 or above (orally) are considered to have fever and will be excluded from school. To prevent the spread of a communicable disease, ill students must be symptom free and fever free without the use of temperature reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school.
Improper Footwear- P.E.
We are seeing a few injuries in health fitness classes due to improper footwear. While Crocs, slides, and clogs are comfortable to wear they do not provide support or protection while exercising. If your child is enrolled in health fitness, please make sure they are wearing sneakers or athletic shoes.
Course selection meeting for upcoming 7th & 8th graders
In preparation for our Course Selection Zoom meeting on January 22nd at 6 pm, we want to give parents and students a chance to ask questions beforehand so we can do our best to get everyone the information they need. Please click on the link below to fill out the google form with your questions and we look forward to seeing you virtually on January 22nd!
