Weekly Family Message | Week of October 14-18, 2024
Message from Ms. Hurst, Principal
Dear Pirate Families,
What an amazing Homecoming Week we had here at Corinth Holders High School last week! Our students enjoyed a dance, dress-up days, a door decorating contest, a parade, and a pep rally. To top off a perfect week, our football team delivered a heart- pounding overtime win over Fuquay! It was a great week to be a Pirate!
This week, our sophomores will take the PreACT. Half of the 10th graders will take it on Tuesday and the other half on Wednesday, Please see below for more information about this important assessment.
Based on feedback from families, beginning today, this weekly newsletter will go out to families on Sunday afternoon. I had several families share that getting the information on Sunday helped them prepare for the week ahead instead of the information getting lost on Friday afternoon as you head into a busy weekend with your families.
If you have suggestions about how we can add to the quality of the information we provide here or how we can better communicate with you, I would love to hear from you. You can email me at melissahurst@johnston.k12.nc.us.
Your proud principal,
Melissa Hurst
Huge Homecoming Game Win over Fuquay!
10th Graders to Take PreACT
On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, all 10th graders will take the PreACT. Please make sure your student is present and on time for this important test.
PreACT assessments provides you and your child with information that can help you select the
right high school courses, think about ways to target areas for improvement, and even begin discussions about college and career. These assessments help identify:
- How a student is doing with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in college and beyond
- Areas where extra help or additional courses are needed
- Career possibilites on PreACT 8/9 and PreACT that match the student’s interests
Your son or daughter also may choose to have their information shared with colleges and scholarship agencies when they take PreACT assessments, which can help them get discovered for college recruitment and scholarship possibilities.
You can learn more about the PreACT here.
