60 SECONDS WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT
Our schools counselors and social workers throughout our District are making an impact with our students. They provide a wide variety of supports and resources. Click HERE for this week’s episode as we visit Surrarrer Elementary and meet its school counselor Mrs. Filuta to hear how she is connecting with and making a difference with the students at Surrarrer.
SMS LEADERSHIP BREAKFAST
This morning, Strongsville Middle School held a Leadership Breakfast for 7th and 8th grade students. The students were selected to participate by their teachers and SMS administration. Local business leaders shared their experiences and advice on building leadership skills with the students. The keynote speaker was Dr. Regina Pestak, Director of Medicine at Cleveland Clinic (Fairview Hospital), and proud parent of children in our District. THANK YOU to all of the business professionals who made positive connections with our students this morning!
MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. MELISSA KING, KINDERGARTEN TEACHER AT CHAPMAN ELEMENTARY
Mrs. Melissa King is in her 5th year teaching kindergarten in our District. Mrs. King started as a long term substitute for one year at Muraski and has now been at Chapman Elementary for the past four years. Her undergraduate degree is from Baldwin Wallace University.
“Every day is a new opportunity and a chance to learn something new, for my students and myself! I enjoy the moments when connections are made and when my students realize how resilient they are when they tackle a tough challenge. I love being the person my students can come to for advice, help, to laugh, and to cry. Being a kindergarten teacher, I have the power to share with my students how fun learning truly is and watch that love for learning take off throughout the school year! As much as I hope I'm making a difference in their lives, I hope they know each and every one has made a difference for me and helped me be the educator I am today,” said Mrs. King.
“I love Chapman and the staff I have the pleasure of working with each day. They have a way of making you feel like you are family right from the start. Everyone truly cares about you and wants to work together to help our children succeed. My colleagues are there to help and support in any way they can. We are a team and it shows. I also love the greetings I get from my current and past students each morning. The smile on their face and their eagerness to tell me something exciting is the best way to start my day and I wouldn't have it any other way!”
Thank you Mrs. King for giving our youngest learners positive classroom experiences and setting a strong foundation for the love of learning! #BeTheDifference
