Outdoor Arrival Info for Families
May 1, 2024
Important Reminders
With the start of warmer weather, we are returning to outdoor morning arrival, as we did in the fall. Here are important reminders for families:
Family Accompaniment During Morning Arrival: All students must be accompanied by a Parent/Guardian in order to play on the field/playground from 8:10am to 8:30am. If a student is unaccompanied, they will be asked to proceed to the cafeteria to be supervised by Hyde-Addison staff. CAPE TESTING: On Thursday, we will ask all 3rd-5th grade students to go to the cafeteria rather than play outside to ensure they have time to eat and be prepared for CAPE testing. We will ask the same of 5th grade students on Friday and this coming Monday, as they complete their tests.
Prohibited Activities to Ensure Safety: During morning arrival, students are not permitted to engage in sports involving throwing, kicking, or tossing balls (soccer, football, baseball, tennis, etc.). This is to ensure student safety, as there are students across many different ages sharing the space.
Line Up Procedure: When the "All Call" is given, students should line up in their class lines with all of their belongings. Kindergarten – 5th grade homeroom teachers will arrive outside shortly thereafter to pick up their class lines to go inside and begin the day. All families are asked to step aside, at that time, so that students can enter the building independently with their peers.
Breakfast in the Cafeteria: Hyde-Addison staff will supervise students in the cafeteria for those eating breakfast and for those without parental supervision outside, beginning at 8:10am. Students who wish to eat breakfast at school should do so immediately upon arriving to school. Students are not permitted to play outside until 8:30am and then go to breakfast. We kindly ask that students refrain from eating food while on the playground. Students who arrive after class lines have already been picked up by their teacher to go inside should get a tardy pass from the main office (if applicable) and then report directly to the cafeteria to get their breakfast before going to class.
Pre-K Arrival: The earliest time a PreK student may be dropped off is 8:20am. Parents/Guardians must stay with their Pre-K student(s) until 8:20am when the Hyde ECE door opens. PreK students do not go down to the cafeteria for breakfast or for morning supervision. Older siblings (Kindergarten – 5th graders) cannot supervise younger siblings during this time.
