Major's Minute

Wow! So much time has passed since my last newsletter - I apologize for this! Please enjoy the videos of the Women's Retreat and Encore! There are great things happening - the best part is being part of and serving with the family of God.

We are also very happy to share that we are staying in Santa Clara for at least another year. The officer moves came out on May 1st and our names were not on the list! Please pray for those who will be moving in June to another ministry that God has ordained. Moving is always hard.

Please join us today after church for a youth spaghetti fundraiser. The Graduation Potluck is pushed back to June 9 to celebrate 8th grade promotions, high school and college graduates.

Encore funraising!

As you know, our youth participated in the Divisional Encore Competition two weeks ago and they did great!! Not only did they represent Santa Clara and God wonderfully, they even advanced to compete at the next level. Please help support their spaghetti meal to get them to Southern California to compete. The meal will consist of salad, spaghetti, delicious bread, and dessert. $7 for adults, $4 for 11 and under. Drinks and fudge will also be sold.

As this fundraiser will be held instead of our normal potluck after church, no one will be turned away for not having money. However, we ask that those able to give, please give generously - maybe even sponsoring those who are short. Forgot your money? Can't make it? We'll gladly take I.O.U.s, check, cash, VENMO, and extra donations! :) We thank you in advance for your help!

Western Music Institute (WMI) Information

About WMI

The Western Music Institute or WMI is a 9-day music and creative arts training institute held annually by The Salvation Army USA Western Territory. WMI has a history of training quality music and creative arts leaders.

With delegates ranging in age from 14 to 25, WMI is designed to enhance students’ musical abilities and help them discover ways to use their talents to further the Kingdom of God.

Major Tracks include:

Brass Band (brass / percussion)
Dance
Drama / Theater
Vocal
Worship Teams

In addition to participating in one of the above majors, delegates also participate in choirs and in the elective of their choice. With nearly a dozen electives to choose from, each delegate is sure to have a great time.

Overnight Summer Camp at The Salvation Army Redwood Glen

If you know any children from the age of 7 - 16 years old. We highly recommend that you send them to the beautiful Redwood Glen camp for one or two weeks that they qualify for. We are blessed to be one of the corps who receives financial help to send kids to camp. Each week of camp full of great meals, fun activities, chapels, making friends, and being safe and engaged in the summer is valued at $300 per camper. Our Santa Clara office even drive the kids to/from the camp for your convenience. The kids we get to send only have to pay a registration fee of $50. Remember Oscar? He's asking for help!

I am so excited to announce that I have the opportunity to serve APU this year in the Dominican Republic! I will be leading the team this year, which I am very excited about!

My team and I will be in the Dominican Republic from May 6th to June 4th, serving alongside Kids Alive International. My team has the opportunity to serve in Kids Alive schools throughout our time in the Dominican Republic, serving lower-income children and families. We will participate in teaching English, AWANA, math, art classes, sports ministry, various projects, and so much more. I am ecstatic to take this opportunity to serve the kingdom of God.

I cannot do this alone, so I would love it if you could consider partnering with me in prayer for my team, the trip, and Kids Alive; that would be amazing! Territorial Congress - Registration is closed.

Although the Congress event is two months away, the registration is unfortunately closed. We pray that those who haven't registered will be able to join another year.

ARC Command will be receiving their own travel subsidy for current beneficiaries. Those who have graduated and attend your corps can be included in your non-officer counts.

Ordination and Commissioning

The Ordination and Commissioning ceremonies will take place as part of the Friday night opening celebration session of the Congress, with the appointments being given out in the final meeting on Sunday afternoon. What an exciting way to start the Congress!
