OHS IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Pirate Achievement Day 10/16/2024
6 Calendar Days Until Pirate Achievement Day!
ATTENDANCE ON THIS DAY IS SO IMPORTANT!!!
OHS Community,
As we continue to prepare our students for bright futures, it's essential to emphasize the importance of attending every opportunity presented to them - including Pirate Achievement Day - whether it's for college, future fairs, the PSAT, or other post-secondary pathways. Missing out on these key events can mean missing critical information, scholarships, networking opportunities, and valuable insights that could shape their future paths.
Each of these moments is a stepping stone, providing knowledge and connections that equip our students to make informed decisions about their futures. Attendance not only opens doors to success but also builds confidence and clarity for the road ahead. By showing up, students gain the tools they need to unlock their full potential.
Encourage and support our students in taking full advantage of these opportunities. The future starts now, and every step they take matters!
Warm regards,
Dr. Skyler M. Garrahy
Next Wednesday, October 16th is Pirate Achievement Day. We have been working hard to make sure this day is meaningful for EVERY student and appreciate your support in working with your advisory students to ensure a great day for all! Please help us to encourage all students to attend and take advantage of the amazing opportunities that we are providing!
**9th Grade**: Freshmen will collaborate with counselors to create a personalized four-year plan, ensuring they stay on track for their academic and career goals. They will also attend a College & Career Fair to start exploring potential future opportunities early.
**10th Grade**: Sophomores will take the ASVAB, a valuable career exploration tool that assesses their strengths and interests. The results help students identify potential career paths aligned with their personal skills, allowing them to begin thinking about future education and training plans that will support their career goals.
**11th Grade**: Juniors will take the PSAT, which provides multiple benefits beyond academics. It can open doors to National Merit Scholarships and other scholarship opportunities, as well as attract attention from colleges interested in recruiting students based on their performance. The PSAT also helps students explore their academic strengths and potential future paths.
**12th Grade**: Seniors will benefit from a highly personalized experience, as they are grouped according to their current A-G eligibility to receive the guidance they need. Whether they’re applying to a community college, university, trade or technical school, considering the military, or preparing to enter the workforce, this day ensures that **every senior** leaves with a solid plan for their future. From attending a Senior Meeting with administrators to exploring the College & Career Fair, to one-on-one support sessions tailored to their individual needs, Pirate Achievement Day is designed to set all seniors up for success—no matter what path they choose.
