Community Resource Fair for Parents
We are excited to announce an upcoming special regional event for parents and caregivers: Community Resource Fair & Special Presentation. The event will take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at King Philip Middle School in Norfolk. A presentation by psychotherapist and author Lynn Lyons titled “From Stress to Smartphones, from Freak-Outs to Friendships: What Parents Need to Know (and DO!) about Worry, Anxiety and Depression.” The Resource Fair is from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the presentation is from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The event is free to all WPS parents and caregivers. Please click here for more information and to register!
Office Reminders
Please remember that the weather in New England can be unpredictable. We make every effort to take the kids outside for recess when the weather allows us to do so. When the “feels like” temperature is below 20, recess will be indoors; otherwise, we will have outdoor recess. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately and ready for the ever-changing New England weather. During the winter months, students often forget sweatshirts, jackets, gloves, etc. Please be sure to label jackets, sweatshirts, hats, etc. as many winter items end up in our school's lost and found. The Delaney School Lost and Found is located in the Delaney Main Office vestibule. Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of each month.
When your child is going to be out sick, please contact the school nurse and not the main office. You can email cashmanj@wrenthamschools.org or loreauxk@wrenthamschools.org to let them know your child is sick. You will still receive the automated absence call from the school as we cannot stop those calls from going out when students are absent.
Many students go to the health office for snacks and/or disposable water bottles. It would be helpful if students came to school with a daily snack and a refillable water bottle. We can help if you need assistance. Please contact the school nurses or me for a confidential conversation about providing your child with a daily snack and a refillable water bottle.
Please remember that the morning drop-off window is between 8:10 and 8:20. Students who arrive after 8:20 will be marked tardy. Students who need to walk between buildings in the morning should be dropped off with enough time to get to their classrooms by 8:20.
Dismissal time is 2:45. Parents are asked to arrive at school NO EARLIER THAN 2:35. Students will not be sent out to cars until 2:45. Families do not leave their vehicles to meet their students. Staff members will call for students to be dismissed as cars pull up in front of designated areas.
Book Fair & Literacy Night
The PTO sponsored book fair will take place from February 24 through February 27 and we will celebrate reading with a Spirit Week. Students will attend the book fair during the week with their classes. The Book Fair will also be open to families during Literacy Night on Thursday, March 27. Click here for additional information about Literacy Night.
Counselors' Corner
Kindergarten & Grade 1
The Kindergarten and first grade students are practicing their flexible thinking skills and learning how to strengthen those connections in their brain. They are also learning that flexible thinking leads to more positive feelings and overall happiness!
Grade 2 & 3
Our second and third grade students just finished up their lesson on “Inner Voice.” They practiced noticing their “Bruno Voice” and changing it into something positive. During the month of February, we will continue to learn about the “brain and body connection.” We will be reviewing the parts of the brain and focusing on our own personal, physiological responses when our “amygdala sounds the alarm!”
All Grades
We continue to teach students the science behind our thinking, feelings and emotions. Science makes these concepts more concrete and relatable.
