J. C. Young Middle School
May 2025 Edition

Greetings Wolfpack Families and Friends!!!
As we quickly approach the end of another school year, it’s with great pride and gratitude that we reflect on the journey that we've taken together here at Jean Childs Young Middle School. The 2024-25 school year has been filled with growth, learning, and countless unforgettable experiences for our entire school community. Our students have demonstrated unwavering dedication to the mission of academic excellence and have achieved so many milestones. Along the way, they have mastered new skills across various content areas, making them instructionally competent and ready for the next levels of their academic careers. Beyond the classroom, our students have excelled in extracurricular activities, while showcasing their talents in sports, arts, music, communications, technology, and so much more. Whether on the playing field, the performance stage, or in the production studio, they have displayed remarkable teamwork, creativity, and sportsmanship. They have been truly INSPIRATIONAL, and we could not be prouder of them!!
Throughout the year, our school has been deeply engaged with the local community through partnerships, outreach events, service initiatives, and many other projects. Our AMAZING staff members have shown a sincere commitment to making a positive impact in the world around them. We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated teachers and staff who have gone above and beyond to support and inspire our students every day. A profound difference has been made in the lives of every student because of their passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to their success. Ultimately, our staff has positively impacted our Southwest Atlanta community through the lives of our students.
As we look forward to the summer break and beyond, we will continue to reflect on the experiences of this year, as they serve as a foundation for even greater achievements and growth in the years to come. We extend our warmest wishes to all for a safe, productive, and rejuvenating summer break. Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and commitment to the success of our students and our school. As I have said since Day 1, TOGETHER we will continue to make this school successful, extraordinary, and illustrious as we “Rebuild the Legacy” of Jean Childs Young Middle School………one day at a time.
THANKS for another AMAZING school year!!!!!!!
With Gratitude,
Ronald Garlington - Principal

JCY Flag Football
The Flag Football team had an outstanding season, finishing 5-3 and going to the quarterfinals of the playoffs. The ladies used teamwork and communication to defeat schools such as Howard, Centennial, and Drew Charter. In the game against Drew, the defense had three interceptions and in the game against Atlanta Neighborhood Charter we scored on the first play of the game. The team will have eight players returning and we look forward to another outstanding season next year. The team is coached by Coach Hollingsworth, Coach Lockette, and Coach Colbert.
In The Den Live!
Georgia Aquarium
On April 18th, our engineering and technology students visited Georgia Institute of Technology. They toured the campus, interacted with faculty, and experienced the vibrant academic environment firsthand. The highlight was a lesson on nanotechnology, where students learned about groundbreaking advancements and the impact of tiny particles on various industries. This hands-on experience broadened their understanding and ignited a passion for innovation. Overall, the trip motivated students to envision themselves as future college students and pursue careers in engineering and technology.
