Hello Wildcat Families!

May has come in like a lion and we will be wrapping up another successful school year in just a few short weeks! During the April school board meeting the motion passed to move the last day of school to June 12th since we only used 2 of the 3 snow days that were built into the district calendar. As such, June 10th, 11th and 12th will be half-days for students with dismissal at noon and the last day of school will be June 12th.

The 5th grade send off will be on June 12th at 9:45 a.m. on the back soccer field! 5th grade families will receive information regarding the event by their classroom teachers. Please note if any WTE siblings plan on attending the send-off with their family, then June 11th will be their last day of school with their class. This will need to be indicated in Pick Up Patrol and siblings should arrive to to school with their family and head directly to the back field.

On Thursday, May 8th our talented student musicians will have the opportunity to showcase their skills at our annual spring concert! Our band, chorus and orchestra students will take the stage at Rustin High School with the program starting at 7 pm. The students will also put on a performance for the student body this morning at 9:30. Best of of luck to our students and directors!

Finally, next week our 4th and 5th grade students will compete in the annual district-wide track meet at West Chester University! Mr. Casey has been training the students for the various events and now it is almost game time. Good luck students!!

On Friday, May 16th our student council is hosting a 5th grade social immediately after school. Permission slips must be submitted ahead of time in order to attend. Please be sure to change your child's dismissal plan for May 16th in Pick Up Patrol to indicate they are staying after school if they are attending the social!!

Congratulations to Mrs. Kassandra Kulp, our outstanding 5th grade teacher, on being selected as the recipient of the West Chester Way Maker Award! She was surprised in front of her class with this well-deserved recognition by Superintendent Dr. Christopher and members of the central office team. Mrs. Kulp’s kindness, dedication, and commitment to student learning make a lasting impact each and every day.

Please join me in showing our appreciation for our teachers this week in honor of teacher appreciation week. The teachers will enjoy a delicious breakfast thanks to the coordination and efforts of our PTO on May 8th!! I do not take for granted what an amazing faculty we have at WTE. They care tremendously for not only the academic achievement of each and every student, but also about the health and well-being of each and every student. Thank you teachers for working so hard to make WTE a warm, welcoming and also rigorous learning environment so that each student can achieve their personal best. I'd also like to give a special shout-out to our amazing school nurse, Mrs. Kellie Wallace, as we celebrate National School Nurse day this week as well. It's comforting to know our students are in good hands under the care of such a knowledgable and empathetic professional. Thank you Mrs.Wallace!

All students and staff enjoyed a cold treat from the KONA ICE truck on Tuesday, May 6th. This was a great way to show appreciation for our teachers while also celebrating another successful year of PSSA testing. Thankfully the rain held out as well!!

Congratulations to all of our incredible students who participated in the Special Olympics on May 2nd at Coatesville High School! We are all so proud of you! A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Ryan Walter and our dedicated paraprofessionals for their support and encouragement in making this a truly memorable day for our students. Your efforts helped create a day full of joy, achievement, and lasting memories! A special shout out to our PTO for sponsoring the cost of the t-shirts for our attending students and staff!!
