January Parent Press
Read this article from our Parent Educator, Nichol Michels. She is a great resource for families! This month's article is about understanding what stress behaviors look like, as well as great activities that families can do at home to help their children cope with stress.
January Character Strong - Perseverance
The month of January is all about Perseverance. One way to think about it is “pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles.” We all experience challenges in our lives. We all have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or we want to give up on a difficult task. It is important to develop tools and a mindset that help us work through those moments, in order to grow.
How might you practice Perseverance as a family this month? Consistency is hard. Have each family member commit to one thing they will do each day for one week. Maybe it is flossing your teeth, drinking a certain amount of water, getting to bed at a certain time, or limiting screen time. Create a chart where each family member can keep track of their new “healthy habit” and see who can keep it going the longest. Notice and celebrate the character trait of perseverance.

View Report Cards Online
Families may login to their A-HConnect account or download the ParentVUE mobile app to access student report cards. Report cards are only available online and will no longer be sent through postal mail or student’s backpacks. Parents, guardians and any person with educational rights to a student will be able to access the student’s report card online.
Get steps for viewing report cards on the Anoka-Hennepin Schools website.
For assistance with your login information, contact the Anoka-Hennepin Schools HELP Desk at 506help@ahschools.us or 763-506-HELP (4357). For questions about the report cards or for printing accommodations, please contact the main office at your child’s school.
In-District Transfers- Applications Due January 15th
An in-district transfer is for a student who resides in the Anoka-Hennepin School District and wants to transfer to a different Anoka-Hennepin school from their regularly assigned school. For example, if a Blaine High School student wants to attend Coon Rapids High School, the parent or guardian must request an in-district transfer.
- Families that apply for an in-district transfer application by the January 15 deadline for the first round priority lottery will receive confirmation of enrollment by February 15 for the next school year.
- If your student does not receive confirmation of enrollment in the first round of the lottery, an additional lottery processes will be held in mid-April.
