π Staff Shout-Outs π
Ms. Heberden
Ms. Heberden is a first grade teacher. She moved to Grand Junction from California in 2013. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, spending time outdoors, listening to live music, and working out!
Ms. Heberden teaches because she loves kids. She also teaches because she wants to be a positive role model in her studentβs lives; someone who can bring positivity, encouragement, motivation, comfort, trust, and love to all of her students. She strives to be the person who helps students see their potential and inspires them to feel confident in all of their abilities. These are the reasons Ms. Heberden chose to teach.
Mrs. Kegans
Mrs. Kegans has been a first grade teacher at Chatfield Elementary for 5 years. She is married to Reese, and has two kiddos, Hudson and Stella, and a dog, Goose. When she's not teaching, she enjoys camping, boating, running, and spending time with family and friends.
She always knew she wanted to work with children, however she never knew in what capacity. Upon graduating kinesiology degree, she decided to go into education.
Her βwhyβ for teaching is simple; she wants to help create good humans. Mrs. Kegan's goal as a first grade teacher is to help students gain both the academic and emotional skills they need to be able to make a positive impact in this world.
Ms. Tommie
Miss Tommie is an Instructional Paraprofessional at Chatfield Elementary. She is proud that she has been part of this amazing school community for 15 years now. She has a husband, Rob and a grown daughter, Callie. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, shopping for antiques, and reading. She also enjoys singing and playing the guitar.
She believes working with kids is the absolute BEST job! She says that she learns more from them than they learn from her. She values the new perspective students provide. She also enjoys helping students become better readers and better people in general.
