Successes in the Burrow!
Hello Students and Families!
We had another busy week in the burrow with many special events! We had our Orange Ruler kick-off assembly which was so much fun! Thanks to the PTA for partnering with the school on this fundraiser! This event helps raise funds for many events for ALL Patterson students such as the Wheel of Wisdom Assembly, Science Fair, Bingo Night, Field Day, Patterson Champion Monthly celebrations, Out of the Blue weekly prizes, and so much more! If you haven't already, please visit orangeruler.com/signup to register your student.
We also had our first monthly Patterson Champions celebrations for all of the students who were recognized in the first four weeks of school. Mrs. Lee and I enjoyed some outdoor parachute fun with our Kindergarten, first, and second grade students. I agree with the students when they were saying, "This is the best day ever!" Literally all students were smiling and laughing the entire time! Mrs. Lee proved to be a better rock wall climber than me, but I'm blaming it on the fact that I did not have the right shoes on :) Our third, fourth, and fifth grade champions showed us their strength and bravery climbing all the way across the rock wall!
In PE, Neuqua graduate, Will Chevalier, came to visit to talk about and demo the sport of Rugby. He taught students how to catch and throw a Rugby ball. Will is training with the USA Rugby team, so this was an honor to have him visit our school! We will be sure to follow him on the USA Rugby team!
Lastly, we had the most perfect weather for Walk and Roll to school this week! It was so exciting seeing so many students and families walk and bike from the clubhouse. I think the highlight for many was seeing Pete the Prairie Dog greet them upon arrival at school. Thank you PTA for organizing this event!
On another note, please check your child's bookbag today as Picture Day Pictures were sent home.
We are truly impressed by our students each and every day!
See some pictures below with happenings in the burrow this week.
Have a wonderful weekend!

UPDATE: Author Marianne Richardson spoke to our K-2 graders in September about her new book, The World is Awaiting You. She had exciting news this week when Target picked her book as Best Children's Book of the Year! How lucky to have this author in person to inspire our students!
Stay tuned for an exciting visit from Chris Grabenstein, author of Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library for our 3-5 graders coming in November from Anderson's Bookshop! This courtesy is extended to us for hosting bookfairs with them. Also, an exciting event for our K-2 students is another author visit. Four schools in District 204 will be hosting best-selling author Stef Wade in November! Profits from our bookfair are helping to fund this amazing opportunity. Profits also have helped to purchase:

Explore the Arts and Express Yourself with PTA Reflections
Do you enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Then join us to explore the arts and express yourself with PTA Reflections!
This year's theme is Accepting Imperfection.
All PTA Reflections entries are due to the Patterson office by Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Entries not meeting the category specific guidelines upon submission will be disqualified from advancement. Specific submissions guidelines, entry forms and more are available on the Patterson PTA website. Please email the Patterson PTA with questions.
What is Reflections?
The National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. We proudly offer this National Reflections program to all our District 204 students. Each School’s PTA works hard to make this program work by advertising, collecting entries, and announcing any advancements or winners. Founded in 1969, PTA Reflections is known as the oldest and largest national student recognition program in the arts. Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-created theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
Patterson PTA
The PTA provides school and teacher support, programs, events and fundraising throughout the year. Your PTA membership gives you access to attend class parties and other PTA-sponsored activities at Patterson, but you are not required to attend meetings, events or volunteer.
If you plan to attend class parties, your first step is joining the PTA.
By joining the PTA, you are able to know what is happening at Patterson and hear the Principal’s Report directly from Mrs. Hebenstreit at the monthly PTA Meetings.
Volunteer for a PTA Committee
There are many different PTA committees that could use your help. Time commitments vary, so you can volunteer even if you don’t have a lot of time. If you are interested in volunteering, please email the PTA at thepattersonpta@gmail.com.

Staff will be present at all entrances being used for arrival and dismissal to supervise students.
