Senior of the Week
Ophelia Barr was nominated by her counselor, Mr. Roach. "Ophelia is a fantastic student who exhibits every single one of the Raider Goals. She works extremely hard and it's been a pleasure working with her these past four years. I'm super proud of all that she has accomplished. She is awesome!"
Athlete of the Week
Nathanael Li has been nominated by his baseball coach, Mr. Palacio. "Nathanael has been a key contributor to our team's success on this four-game winning streak. Both on the field and in the classroom, he has demonstrated what it means to be a Raider."
Scholar of the Week
Ms. Daoudi recommends Sidney Yang for her exceptional performance and dedication over the past three years. "Sidney consistently demonstrates an outstanding aptitude for French and an admirable work ethic. She has maintained an impressive grade in advanced French courses, showcasing linguistic abilities and deep cultural understanding. Her work is consistently well-researched, thoughtful, and grammatically impeccable."
Arts Person of the Week
Daniela Barillas Castillo was nominated by her dance coach and by Mr. Harris. "Daniela is a team player and has taken on an extra dance and learning it all in one day. Daniela is also one team member who consistently tries to be the best she can be as a dancer and a team player."
Upcoming State Testing Information
Dear Rowland High School Parents/Guardians,
We are writing to inform you about the upcoming state and college-level testing for our students. Below are the testing dates and details:
Grade 11 SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessments of California): April 7 – April 18
SBAC Make-Ups: April 21 – April 25
Grade 9-12 ELD ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessment of California): April 21 – April 25 - English Learners Only
Grade 10 -12 CAST (California Science Test): May 7 – May 9
AP Exams (Advanced Placement): May 5 – May 16
AP/IB Grade 11 SBAC: May 16 – May 30
Our teachers are actively preparing students for these assessments. If you would like your child to have additional practice at home, the State of California provides online practice tests for the SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessments of California), ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessment of California), and CAST (California Science Test), which can be accessed at the following link under Practice and Training Tests: CAASPP & ELPAC Practice Tests
➢ Get up a few minutes earlier to avoid rushing and ensure your child arrives on time
➢ Have your child eat a healthy breakfast at home or school
➢ Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep
➢ Gently encourage and motivate your child to do their best
➢ Provide your child with additional test preparation

Dance Team Continues Winning Streak!
Our Dance Team Captains & Lieutenant bring home an OVERALL DIVISION WIN & HIGHEST SCORING DANCE!!!
The dance team and crew competed at their final local competition qualifier at Sierra Vista HS before we head off to State Championships next month!
Our dance team captains & Lieutenant, Jacelin Salud, Shia Wong, & Coco Xiao swept the competition this weekend with the highest placing dance of the day with a 94.5. With their high score they also brought home the Overall Division Win in the HS Dance Category!
Out of the nine division categories the team and crew compete in, they brought home seven 1st place, one 2nd place, and one 3rd place trophy; as well as the "Judges" Award.
We would also like to congratulate the following team and crew members on their individual achievements in the individual competition categories.....
In the "Best Toe Touches" HS category, Coco Xiao medaled in 1st place, Yahshuah McThomas medaled in 2nd place, and Yiquan Luo medaled in 3rd place.
In the "Best Leaps" HS category. Amanda Rodriguez medaled in 1st place.
Rowland Color Guard Takes First Place!
The Rowland Color Guard secured first place at their regional competition, demonstrating exceptional skill, coordination, and dedication. Their performance stood out among competitors, reflecting the hard work and commitment of both the team members and their coaches. Achieving this top placement is a testament to their rigorous training, precision, and teamwork. This victory not only highlights their talent but also reinforces their reputation as a highly competitive and accomplished group in their division.
California State Seal of Biliteracy
If you have taken an AP/IB course in Spanish, French, Chinese, or Korean or have passed the Filipino or Arabic Biliteracy test and meet all the Biliteracy Award requirements, please join Google Classroom to complete an application. Apps must include a copy of your transcript and all other necessary documents. Please see Ms. Serrano in R201 if you have any questions.
Spring Musical
Don't miss the RHS Spring Musical with four amazing performances! Showtimes are April 10th to April 12th at 7:00 p.m., plus a special matinee on April 12th at 2:00 p.m.. Get your tickets in advance for just $10 at the ASB office or on GOFAN (with additional convenience fees). Tickets will also be available at the door for $12 (cash only).
