BOOTH HILL SCHOOL
January 10, 2025
Principal's Message
👋 Dear Booth Hill Families,
Let's be real - it's cold out there! The winter weather has been no joke lately, with winds that make you want to bundle up and stay inside. As parents and educators, we're all working together to keep our kids comfortable and ready for whatever the day might bring.
Parents, your children's comfort and warmth are our priority. Each morning, we encourage you to dress them in layers that can withstand any outdoor time should we be able to take them outside.
For those whose spirits long for warmer days, take heart: spring is a mere 69 days away, believe it or not! Soon, the world will transform - daylight will stretch longer, flowers will tentatively emerge, and sunshine will caress our faces with gentle warmth. For now, we need to bear winter's cold temperatures.
Some among us are winter's true lovers, finding joy in the crunch of snow underfoot, skiing or boarding down the slops, and the comfort of a crackling fire!
Either way, embrace the season you're in. Live in the moment, love those around you, and find wonder in each season's unique magic. Stay warm!
Warm regards,
Kevin Chase
Instructional Spotlight
To start the new year off with a bang, third graders have come up with word goals for themselves. These are goals that will help them improve in an area of their life.
We also had a fun time with "Thinking Classroom" activities in math. This helped with the learning of distributive property of multiplication and division.
Everyone is excited about the nonfiction reading unit and informational writing unit.
Students are discovering all about the laws of inertia in our forces and interactions science unit.
Student Spotlight
On January 10, some students had the opportunity to attend the CAS Elementary Leadership Conference at Housatonic Community College. The students were engaged in many hands-on activities centered around creative problem solving, communication, decision making and productive thinking. They represented Booth Hill well, and have some wonderful, new ideas to bring back to our community from their experience.
