There has been a change in this month’s schedule. Popcorn Friday will now take place on January 31st instead of January 24th due to early release. Thank you for your understanding!
Remember, Popcorn Fridays will now take place on the second and fourth Friday of every month.
Save the Date: Daddy-Daughter Dance will be held on Saturday, February 8 in the Commons. Please follow the Reardan P.I.E. Facebook page for more information.
Attendance Update:
Our student attendance has improved compared to last year! Please see the data below for details. Remember, even if your child’s absence is excused, they are still considered chronically absent if they miss more than 10% of the school year. Thank you for your continued efforts to support regular attendance!
Supporting Your Child’s Attendance Success:
Regular attendance is key to your child’s academic and social growth. You can help by setting a consistent bedtime and morning routine, ensuring your child gets plenty of rest and starts the day ready to learn. If your child is reluctant to attend school, talk with their teacher or school counselor to address concerns early. Let’s work together to build habits that set your child up for success!
Middle School Highlights
We returned to school in 2025 ready to take the next step with our Professional Learning Communities. Our certificated staff met with Amber Birks for our third time since August and moved forward with a focus on planning units aligned with our Washington State Standards, using engagement strategies, and analyzing assessment data. We appreciate being able to dedicate an entire day to improving our teaching strategies.
Please continue to check in with your students each week regarding their academic progress. Semester One ends on January 24th and grades will be posted on January 31 by 3 pm. First and second quarter grades will be averaged into Semester One grades which will be placed in cumulative files. Encourage your students to work hard and finish the semester strong. We will celebrate first semester honor roll students and Reardan Rising (improved grades from first to second quarter) students on Friday, January 31st. Students with no office referrals and NO MISSING ASSIGNMENTS for the month of January will stay for a fun activity following the awards ceremony. Please reach out via email to teachers if you have any questions regarding academic or behavioral progress. As always, you can email me, dnewsum@reardansd.net with any questions or concerns.
Art is the favorite elective by far in our middle school. We are thankful that both 7th and 8th grade students have the option to take art this year. Mr. Dewalt has done an excellent job of improving our students’ foundational skills, and they are having a wonderful time creating! We hope to continue to expand our fine arts offerings even more next year.
Students and staff are excited to explore our interactive alumni and hall of fame touchscreen display that went live this week. The touch screen makes it easy to search out former Reardan students, athletic titles, and even yearbooks from as far back as the early 1940s. Andrea McLaughlin has tirelessly spearheaded this project, and it is so exciting to see it up and running. Stop by the HS front entry to check it out for yourself.
High School Highlights
This week, our hearts are heavy as we reflect on the recent tragedy that has deeply affected the Wellpinit community. The loss experienced has touched countless lives, leaving a profound impact on students, families, and staff.
At Reardan High School, we stand in solidarity with the Wellpinit community during this time of mourning. Our thoughts and prayers are with their students, families, and staff as they navigate this difficult time. We recognize the pain and grief they are experiencing and want them to know they are not alone.
As a school, we are reminded of the importance of unity, compassion, and support in times like these. Let us continue to show kindness, reach out to one another, and offer strength to those who need it most. Together, we can help lift one another up and find hope amid sorrow.
If you or your family need support or resources during this time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our school counselors.
With deepest sympathy,
Reardan School District Staff

BYU will not let you take your final exam until you've completed all course work. You will need to make sure all course work is completed by January 19th, so you can schedule an onsite visit to take the final exam the week of January 20th. Superintendent breakfast!
Tuesday's breakfast, bacon and eggs, was prepared by our own Superintendent, Eric Sobotta! He not only helped to cook the food but also helped to serve it to the students. Mr. Sobotta was even caught helping to put away the order. Thanks for all the help!
