Week "End" Welcome

Happy Friday, Fairmount Families!

I hope everyone has been enjoying a very happy and safe summer. While this is not the first official Week "End" Report for the 2024-2025 school year, the office staff and I wanted to take a moment to provide some updates to support our families as we prepare to welcome students back in a couple weeks. We thank you, in advance, for taking a moment to review the information below provided in this Summer Updates newsletter.

To help families prepare for the new year, District 58 has developed a Back-to-School Toolkit on the website. You will find detailed information related to school hours, transportation, health requirements and more.

If you are a new Fairmount Family, welcome! We are excited that we will be partnering with you on your child's educational journey. For our returning families, thank you for continuing to entrust your child(ren) in our care. Please look for future communications regarding the start of the 2024-2025 school year in the weeks to come.

Teacher Assignments (previously emailed)

Teacher assignments will be finalized and posted in PowerSchool today, Friday, August 2 at 9:30 a.m. Any information you view before that time and date is not official, and may still be subject to change as schedules are finalized. We will send a reminder message on August 2nd at 9:30 a.m. which will include directions on how to access the schedules in the parent portal. Please note that each school will have a unique time when student schedule viewing is enabled.

Your child’s schedule will not be available in PowerSchool before this time. This is to minimize the number of users logging onto PowerSchool’s servers at any given time.

In order to view your child’s schedule, you will need to be able to log into your secure PowerSchool Parent Portal Account. Families can navigate the portal by visiting dg58.powerschool.com and signing in with their username and password. Information about creating a portal account can be found here. If you need assistance, please contact our school office (630-719-5830) for assistance with your PowerSchool account.

Move-In & Meet the Teacher - 08.13.2024

Save the Date!

Tuesday, August 13th will be our Move-In/Meet the Teacher event. All Fairmount Families are invited to come to Fairmount School between 2:45-3:30 p.m. to see their classroom, meet their teacher(s) and “move-in” their supplies. Please plan to have your child attend this event with a parent/guardian/adult.

If you ordered supplies through the PTA, your child's supplies will be at the school when you arrive.

School Supplies

Please review the 2024-2025 school supply list as you prepare for the start of school.

If you ordered school supplies through Fairmount's PTA, please know that these supply bags will be at your child's classroom when you arrive for our Move-In/Meet the Teacher event. In the event you are not able to attend this event, your child's supply bag will be in their classroom for the first day of school.

Since we are local some boxes will come as quick as 2 days but as we approach August they get busier which can affect delivery times.

Transportation

2024-25 bus routes will be posted at www.dg58.org/family-resources/bus-routes, as well as on the PowerSchool Parent Portal, on Friday, Aug. 9. Please visit this site if your student is eligible and registered for bus service.

PTA Falcon Fest 08.16.2024

The Fairmount PTA invites 2024/25 Falcon Families to join us on the Fairmount blacktop on August 16th at 5pm to kick off the school year. Meet new friends or get a chance to see familiar school friends. Learn about the PTA and sign up for fun volunteer opportunities if you would like. A Kona Ice truck will be onsite and will give the PTA 20% back from any purchases. Please contact programs.fairmount.pta@gmail.com with questions regarding the event.
