Calendar Reminder: No School for Students this Friday, 5/24 & Monday, 5/27
📅 Calendar Reminder:
- There is no school for students this Friday, May 24th.
- There is no school for students this Monday, May 27th.
- All District Offices and CVUSD schools are closed on Monday, May 27th in honor of Memorial Day.
Ms. Farhit is an enthusiastic and compassionate educational leader with more than 25 years of experience committed to fostering a culture of academic excellence, equity, and inclusion with a profound understanding of instructional strategies and a dedication to student-centered learning. She has most recently served as the CVUSD’s Technology Integration Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), where she designed and delivered professional learning for all district personnel, collaborated with TK-12 grade teachers to construct lessons that provide equitable, inclusive technology learning experiences for all students and evaluated new technologies and resources to determine their suitability for districtwide adoption.
Ms. Farhit will officially begin her new role as the Principal of Walnut Elementary School on July 1, 2024.

Ms. Keener has served as a dedicated leader in the Conejo for the last two decades, most recently holding the position of Assistant Principal for Redwood Middle School. Ms. Keener has excelled in fostering academic excellence in her many leadership roles throughout CVUSD, while demonstrating an unwavering dedication to nurturing the potential in every student.
Ms. Keener will officially begin her new role as Principal of Redwood Middle School on July 1, 2024.

Mr. Mercer’s career in education spans more than 25 years, most recently serving as the Director of High School Education for the Conejo Valley Unified School District for the past six years. Prior to joining the CVUSD, Mr. Mercer served as the Principal of Agoura High School, and as the Clear Administrative Credential Coach for Las Virgenes Unified School District’s Center of Educational Excellence.
Mr. Mercer will officially begin his role as Principal of Conejo Valley High School on July 1, 2024.

Join us for a Walk-In Interview at our District Educational Center located at 1400 E. Janss Road in Thousand Oaks, TOMORROW, Tuesday May 21st from 2:30pm-4:30pm.
The CVUSD community is invited to join the District’s Instructional Services team for the second of two scheduled Preview Nights (virtual) to review a proposed new high school Core Literature title: They Called Us Enemy by George Takei, Steven Scott (Gr. 9 - Required-Extended).

This title is to be brought before the CVUSD Board of Education for Information/Discussion at the May 15th Board of Education Meeting and for Action at the June 5th Board of Education Meeting.

Congratulations to our Ladera STARS Academy and Lang Ranch Elementary School on being named 2023 Honor Roll Schools from the Educational Results Partnership (ERP). The goal of the Honor Roll is to find and highlight successful schools and encourage collaboration among educators on best practices for raising student achievement.
This year 1,430 schools in California made the Honor Roll. This is approximately 17 percent of all schools in the state.

Colina Scholar Earns Award of Excellence in National PTA Reflections Competition
Congratulations to Colina Middle School student Lily for earning an Award of Excellence in Photography in the 2023-2024 National PTA competition! From 45 PTA congresses, National PTA received over 900 student entries inspired by this year's theme I am Hopeful Because... Of those submissions, 200 student artists nationwide received awards. As an Award of Excellence recipient, Lily will receive a $200 Young Artist Scholarship, Silver Medal, Certificate of Excellence and her work will be featured in the National PTA's virtual exhibition.
Lily's award-winning photography advanced to the National competition after achieving an Award of Excellence for the State of California.
Way to go Lily - and congratulations to the Conejo Council PTA!
