Welcome Back To School
August 2024
Greetings
I am Liz Turner, your Principal of Forsyth Elementary School. Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are thrilled to welcome our students back to school. We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your friends and families. Now it is time to look forward to a wonderful school year. We are happy to serve you and your child beginning the first day of school, Tuesday, August 20th, 2024. Open House will be August 15th from 6:00 to 7:30.
Our incredible staff of educators have been in school throughout the summer preparing lessons for the new school year. We are grateful for the amazing custodial staff as they worked all summer to get our school in pristine shape. Our secretarial staff, Miss Corrie and Miss Kasey are working hard to ensure a smooth start for staff, students and families.
Forsyth Elementary School is such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our school and have high expectations for each and every student. Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. Instruction will be focused on specialized skills and content needed to learn grade level expectations while providing the appropriate tools needed to grasp concepts.
Partnering with families is crucial to promote a healthy transition to school both socially and emotionally. We recognize that students may be feeling anxious with the start of a new school year and we will continue to place a strong emphasis on social emotional learning while focusing on building classroom community. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our district website https://forsythpanthers.org/ and announcements sent through Infinite Campus.
I look forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our students will achieve their highest potential. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
Attends school daily and arrives on time ready for the day’s learning experience
Completes all homework assignments given by the teachers
Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
Practice their math facts on a daily basis

New Staff Members
- Nikki Storment will be the k-8 librarian. She has been a part of the Forsyth family for awhile but new to our building. Fun facts about Mrs. Storment.
- She was a stay-at-home mom (with a home daycare) to five children for 15 years. When her youngest child began kindergarten, she went back to college at the age of 40 to become a teacher! She states, "It was one of my best decisions ever! I absolutely love teaching and being with my students!"
- Her husband and her enjoy traveling and going on adventures together!
- Andy Thomas is coming from Taneyville School District with 7 years experience in education. He will be teaching fourth grade math. He will be a great asset to our team. We are excited he is here at Forsyth and eager to see the great things he accomplishes.
- Emily Shipman will be joining the Forsyth School District. She recently graduated from MSU. Emily Shipman played softball for the MSU Bears and will be teaching elementary and middle school PE. Emily is returning to her roots, she is a Forsyth graduate in 2020.

New Pick-up Policy
If you have both an elementary and middle school student who you plan on picking up from school, we have a new procedure that will take place at the beginning of this school year. The district will have one pick-up location for parents of children with both elementary and middle school students. You will pick up your children at the middle school. An aide will walk the students over to the middle school and his/her sibling will pick up him/her up and walk them out to parent pick-up.
Drop off will remain the same. You will continue to drop off your elementary student in the elementary parking lot.
- Enter the school through Panther Street and remain in the drop-off/pick-up line in you are dropping off or picking up your child.
- If you have to come into the building, please park and use the crosswalk to enter the school.
- DO NOT exit out of the line to drive around cars. This is unsafe and illegal! Please be patient, this is for the safety of our students.
- We appreciate in advance your patience and cooperation in keeping safety a top priority.
