Students enjoyed a wonderful day this past Monday with author Jarett Lerner presentations with sessions on drawing and writing. Thank you to our BSA, especially Melissa McCaffrey, for coordinating this day long author in residence enrichment.

Week 1 of March Madness is in the books! We will be updating our classrooms over announcements next week where grades are on our March Madness leader board. They put in a great week of IReady Reading and Math!

Do you find yourself wondering if your child's worries are a typical part of child development or maybe something more? Are you unsure of how to manage or respond to these worries. Join us for this presentation with our clinical psychologist, Dr. Jacki Reinert titled "The Power of Yet" on March 19 at 6:30. Next week we'll have a fun theme week a Byam Shamrock Spirit Week, below is the calendar!

This week, Chelmsford's long standing tradition of the Community Read-In took place in our schools. Byam had several community readers join our classrooms to read aloud books to our students. Thank you for taking your time out of your busy schedules!

Byam Kindergarteners celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday this week and continued to learn the importance of reading and writing.

The sun came out for us today for our annual 4th Grade Photo!

Our 3rd and 4th grades will be taking part in state MCAS testing in just over a month. Please see the testing schedule below. It is important that students are present and on time for testing sessions.

Grade 4

ELA: Monday April 8 and Tuesday April 9

Mathematics: Wednesday May 15 and Thursday May 16

Grade 3

ELA: Wednesday April 10 and Thursday April 11

Mathematics: Monday April 8 and Tuesday April 9

Byam student artists have a lot to be proud of! During the month of March, several students will be having their artwork displayed in the Chelmsford Public Library along with artwork from other K-12 students from Chelmsford.

In addition, 8 other Byam students have also been selected to have their artwork included in the MAEA Virtual Youth Art Month Exhibition, along with art from across the entire state of Massachusetts!

The artwork from BOTH shows will also be displayed on a special bulletin board during the Byam School Art Show on May 9th. Congratulations to all artists on these outstanding accomplishments!

The Chelmsford Public will also be hosting a Persian New Year celebration on Saturday, March 9th, from 1 to 3 p.m. This cultural and educational event will take place in the McCarthy Meeting Room and will feature various activities and performances that showcase Persian traditions and customs.

Chronic absences effect the social, emotional, and academic growth of all students. They often feel stressed when they miss important content of curriculum due to absences. Updated attendance letters are sent home on an ongoing basis so schools and families can work together on improving student attendance to school.
