A Message from the Principal
Champion Families,
We are off to a great start this school year! Our students and staff enjoyed the first few days together and the positive vibes around the halls and in the classrooms has been amazing! We will be working in the coming weeks to establish school and classroom routines and procedures. We will continue to spend time getting to know one another and building community.
Beginning Tuesday, September 3rd, we will welcome lunch visitors and classroom volunteers. All visitors will check-in at the front and must have a valid picture ID in order to enter the building. After checking in at the front desk, lunch visitors will wait in the hallway outside the cafeteria for their students and will find a seat at the designated visitor tables located on the stage and in front of the cafeteria. As a reminder, families may eat lunch with their children only. Visitors will exit through the front lobby at the end of the lunch period, and students will return to class.
Classroom volunteers may also begin coming into the building (Sept. 3) based on teacher/staff needs. Each teacher will determine when, how often and how many parent volunteers will be needed to support activities for their students. If you are seeking opportunities to volunteer, please visit our school website for more information. Once volunteers have watched and signed-off on the required videos on the website and completed the volunteer confidentiality agreement, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher directly for specific class times and needs. The confidentiality agreement must be turned into Tammy Bruce prior to the first volunteer visit.
Thank you for partnering with us! We are grateful for your continued support.
With appreciation,
Jill Short
What's Going on in the Classrooms?
We are proud of the accomplishments and growth of our Champions over the past year and are excited to build on this progress for the 2024-2025 school year. Our focus remains on enhancing student achievement and growth in math and English language arts.
In mathematics, we will continue to implement the Eureka Squared curriculum, which has proven effective. Your child will engage in hands-on learning and academic conversations to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts and practices. Daily exit tickets will guide the teacher’s instruction by assessing students’ understanding of each day’s focus.
For reading and writing instruction, Forsyth County Schools has adopted the Benchmark Workshop curriculum for Kindergarten through third grade. This curriculum aligns with the Science of Reading. Students in fourth and fifth grades will use the new word study curriculum, Morpheme Magic, which enhances their understanding of morphology and word meanings. Additionally, fourth and fifth graders will follow Forsyth County Schools’ newly created units of reading and writing instruction.
Please join us for Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 12 at 5:30 PM to learn more about our reading and math curriculum and instruction. We will also share ways you can support your child’s learning at home. Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education!

PBIS
Color Teams
As part of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), Chattahoochee engages in COLOR TEAMS! Each class has a color, and they work together to earn tokens for their Color Team by showing Champion Behavior (being respectful, responsible, problem solvers). Ask your child what color his or her class is!
We also have 3 Color Games + Field Day where classes compete in games to earn tokens for their color team. Everyone is encouraged to wear their color on Color Game days to show their Champion spirit. Our PTO now has special spirit wear in ALL the teams colors! Order by August 23rd to have shirts delivered to the classroom in time for Color Games in September! Click here to order Chattahoochee Spirit Wear!
