Clark Weekly News (8/23/24)
We are so glad you're here!
A message from your Principal
Well this was quite a week! However, from crisis comes opportunity and it was incredible seeing students and staff being resilient, everyone being so positive, using creative instruction in our one day home and online, and using the opportunity to really get to know one another.
Activities are getting into full swing, so make sure to check it out and get involved. Lots of key life skills naturally occur through extracurriculars, so try some out over the next few weeks.
Thanks to all for another great week and we are happy to be "home!"
Dr. Judd
New News or Needs Repeated
First assembly of the year will be held this Wednesday during block 4. We will be celebrating our last pillar from last year winner, kicking off the Character Counts! program for this year, recognizing spring honor roll and assessment success, and more! Students are to report to their block 4 class for attendance and all students are invited, even if you do not have a class.
Dress code reminder- It was a hectic week. However, now that we are settling in at Clark, here are a few dress code reminders: You may not wear clothing with tears, rips, holes, or shreds that expose the torso, cleavage, and/or undergarments. Nor may you wear tube tops, bare back or midriff exposing clothing. Shorts must be of an appropriate length whether standing or sitting.
Safety Updates: We held our first lockdown drill this week. All staff and students did well and had an opportunity to receive feedback from MCSO to ensure we are making the safest choices in a crisis. Next week, we will hold our monthly fire drill. Remember- the fire alarm is not so loud or obnoxious, the active shooter alarm is VERY loud and you need to get behind a locked door, close blinds and lights and remain there until cleared by law enforcement.
Parking passes ordered this week are ready in the front office. Come and pick yours up so you have it for Monday. If you had a pass issued previously, you still use that pass. Officer Burgess will start ticketing Monday.
Students who need college textbooks or codes need to come by the front office with your schedule so we can order what you need. Accounting, Life Science
Communication- we rely heavily on email. Students will always receive Clark info to the Clark email address. Parents/ guardians- If you want a different email than the one this came to, email ljudd@irsc.edu and CC kfarias1@irsc.edu and we will try to get all systems updated. If someone in your life should be added, please also email us.
Clark shirts and hoodies still available! See attached form at end of newsletter or printed copies in the rack by the front desk. Don't miss out on these awesome dri-fit and cotton shirts and hoodies!
Parking- students can use the pass issued previously. Passes are free and you use the same one for all cars you may drive. You do not need to register for a pass until you have your license and will drive to campus. Scan the QR code from orientation to order a pass.
Interested in a carpool? There's a student looking to catch a ride after block 4 west on Kanner by Cracker Barrel. Email ljudd@irsc.edu if you go that way and we'll get you in touch with the parent.
Gratitude and Celebration!
Thanks to the Howe family for the staff snacks this morning to help as we recover from the extra little stress this week!
This week's Way to go Wednesday is on hold since we were off site with no announcements. However, if you ever see or learn of a Clark student making a positive impact, big or small, please email it to mvillwock@irsc.edu and ljudd@irsc.edu so we can make sure to shout them out.
HUGE GRATITUDE TO COVENANT FELLOWSHIP!!!!!!!!!!! Within an hour of Dr. Judd reaching out for a location that could hold our school, plans were made and everything fell in to place. We are beyond grateful for their kindness and use of the facilities.
