π« A Note from your Administration π«
Hello, Husmann Parents & Guardians!
Our teachers are looking forward to meeting with you in a few weeks at Parent-Teacher conferences! The purpose of conferences is to provide an opportunity for our teachers to share with you all of the wonderful things your child has done so far this school year, in terms of their academic progress, social-emotional growth and how they have demonstrated being safe, responsible and kind.
Some teachers, or entire grade levels, may be doing student-led conferences, and if so, please bring your child with you to the conference! If that is the case, you will receive communication from your child's teacher. Also, if there is a conflict with child care during your conference time, please let your child's teacher know. Our goal is that every family connects with our teachers during conference time.
Progress Reports will be available via ParentVue on Friday, 11/22. Within the report, you will find information from each of the academic subject areas as well as information in the Characteristics of a Successful Learner.
We value home-school partnerships at Husmann, so never hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or other school staff (as needed)! We want each of our Cougars to grow as much as possible this year!
Your Partners in Education,
Mr. Sromek, Principal & Ms. Fitzgerald, Assistant Principal

Donations will be accepted until Thursday, November 21.
βοΈ Holiday Assistance βοΈ
With the holiday season quickly approaching, our church partner, Bethany Lutheran, is supporting our Husmann families again this year with their holiday assistance program. This program is for families who could use the financial support. The church will purchase gifts for the family, wrap them, and deliver them to your family in time for the holidays (pick up is also available). The church would like all interested families to have their forms completed and sent to Miss Becker by November 8th. The assistance form is linked in English and Spanish. Please reach out to Miss Becker (sbecker@d47.org) if you have any questions or would like a paper copy of the form sent home.
Be a Reading Buddy
Be your childβs reading buddy. Set aside time to sit next to your child and read together.
Read aloud to your child and continue to do so beyond the point when he can read independently.
Find a series. Children who like one book in a series will probably enjoy others in the series as well.
Read fiction as well as informational books about topics of interest to your child.
Make reading purposeful. Link reading to activities you are doing like cooking or reading a menu.
Use junk mail. Have your child find 10 words she likes and cut the words out and glue them on a piece of paper to read.
Read books on the go. Place books in the car so children can read as you are running errands or traveling.
Ask your child, βWhatβs the most interesting thing you read today?β Encourage conversations about what you and/or your child are reading
