Let me start by saying Thank You to everyone who was able to attend parent/teacher conferences. I hope that the variety of options of not only days/times, but also the manner in which your conference was held, provided you an opportunity that worked best for your family to visit with your child's classroom teacher. This is a great time for us to share information with you and to show you student samples, but is also an opportunity for you to share more with us about your child. If you haven't had an opportunity to meet with us yet, you still can. Our District's goal is to have 100% participation so your child's teacher will be reaching out to find a time that works best for you.

This week our students will get to participate in the NHS "WE ARE ALL STARS" assembly. We are excited to have them as our guests! Don't forget about the NHS Free Tailgate nights. They are from 5-6:30 pm, and they serve hotdogs, chips, and water. All students from each school are welcome to attend. Students still receive free admission into all North High activities with a paying adult. Here are upcoming dates:

Oct. 15th Football vs West (Tailgate held in the west parking lot behind the scoreboard at Olsen Stadium)

Dec. 7th Basketball vs Heelan (Tailgate will be in the NHS commons)

Jan. 18th Basketball vs CBAL (Tailgate will be in the NHS commons)

We had the honor of presenting the Good News Report at the Board Meeting the end of September. Our task was to highlight growth that students had made in meeting goals in areas that had been difficult for them in some way. Six of our brave 5th graders participated in this event. Bryant will raise our FAST Math proficiency scores (K-1: Early Math and 2-5 CBMmath CAP) from fall to spring by 10% in the 2021-2022 school years. In addition, we will also have a higher spring score in 2022 than in 2021 (>48.06%)

• Free and Reduced Meal Application Reminder: Have you filled out a free and reduced meal application for the 2021-2022 school year? If you haven’t, please take a few moments to fill out the application today. While meals are free to all students due to the pandemic, the information collected on the free and reduced meal application is needed for program funding within the District. Families who qualify for free or reduced meals may also qualify for P-EBT benefits. P-EBT benefits carry over for 30 days in the school year or until a new application is filled out for the new school year. The free and reduced meal application is available on the SCCSD website.

• Return-to-Learn Plan and Weekly COVID-19 Reporting: The District’s Return-to-Learn Plan including our health and safety protocols and our weekly report for positive COVID-19 tests reported by parents and staff is available on the District’s website. The weekly positive COVID-19 data is updated every Friday as part of the District’s commitment to maintaining transparent communication with our families.
