1st 9 Weeks Highlights
During the 1st term class visits commenced. On the first library visit, students and the librarian introduced themselves in a circle activity and shared their feelings about reading. Students discovered the the library procedures and where to find specific reading material within the library. The librarian guided students on to how to access SORA for digital material; as well as, how to utilize Destiny Discover to explore the printed material contained in the school library collection, and to how place books on hold.
2nd 9 Weeks Highlights
During the 2nd 9 weeks of school, the library class visits focused on fun activities that allowed students to move throughout the library and make creations. Students explored the genres and the book collection through fortune tellers and scavenger hunts. 6th grade classes implemented recycling practices by creating pumpkins from pages of weeded books. The highlight of this term was the fall book fair.

4th 9 Weeks Highlights
Students were excited to discover and purchase books at the book fair that occurred during the 4th 9 weeks of school. The 6th grade classes recognized March Madness by listening to an excerpt the librarian read to them from Rebound by Kwame Alexander. Then students practiced force and motion by creating a catapult from popsicle sticks that was used to launch a ping pong through a hoop made from a pipe cleaner, straw, and cardboard. Students wrapped a wonderful school year and returned their library books and Chromebooks in May.
