SAMR: Augmentation
SAMR Model - Augmentation
Augmentation is one step up from substitution. While teachers use technology as a "direct tool substitute," it allows for functional improvement of tasks.
Examples of Augmentation
Reboot Reading
"Use online dictionaries, study guides, [and] history sites to supplement reading." Students can use their technology to make better sense of what they're reading to better process it.
Augment Assessments
Giving an assessment online saves paper, but if teachers use it to give immediate feedback, the assessment is now augmented to improve functionality.
Power Up Presentations
When student presentations include interactive multimedia like links, video, and audio to create "depth & interaction," then their presentation move beyond substitution.
