Happy New Year Hurricane Families! Welcome back to another awesome semester here at Sam Houston High School! We encourage our parents to be sure to stay involved in your child's education by requesting parent conferences with teachers when needed and checking your child's attendance and grades using the parent portal. We are here to support in the success of your child while at Sam Houston so if you need to reach out to your child's counselor, please do so as well.

Citizenship is a relationship between an individual and a state to which the individual owes allegiance and in turn is entitled to its protection.

If your student needs to recover hours for attendance from the first semester, please be sure he or she does so after school. Sam Houston offers several ways students can make hours up:

1. Twilight School

2. City Year

3. Saturday School

4. Tutoring with teachers

Martin Luther King Jr Day is a federal holiday in the United States that takes place on the third Monday in January. It honors the life and legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Each year, the celebration takes place on the Monday closest to his birthday, which is on January 15. The Martin Luther King March and Celebration will take place in person, Monday, January 15th at 10:00 am, starting with the march kickoff in front of Martin Luther King Academy, 3501 M. L. King. The March will end with a park celebration at Pittman-Sullivan Park, located at 1101 Iowa.

The month of January is designated as National Blood Donor Month in the United States. Due to holiday celebrations, inclement weather, and cold and flu season, the winter months are often a time of reduced donations and an increased risk for blood shortage

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month . Every year since 2010, the President has dedicated the month to raise awareness about human trafficking and to educate the public about how to identify and prevent this crime.

Seniors Class of 2024

Class of 2024 Graduation Meeting will be held on January 17, 2024. Seniors can order their cap and gown unit starting January 22, 2024 at the link below.
