WMS updates and reminders
- The high school will be hosting a high school scheduling meeting for 8th graders and their families Wednesday night at 6pm in the high school auditorium. Please plan on attending.
- The district has shifted the first conference day up to February 6th. The initial date was the 13th. Sign ups for conferences are here.
- Is your child interested in playing club tennis? See information related to the upcoming club season here.
- Class scheduling for next year will be underway during the week of January 27th. Please take a few minutes to go over the class options with your child for those that will be entering seventh and eighth grade. Parents of 6th & 7th graders, please take a few minutes complete the schedule request forms for next year. The forms can only be completed by having your child log into their school google accounts through these links:

Refugee
Students in Mrs. Bentley and Mrs. Davis' classes are gaining a deeper understanding of the history and events that happened in their class novel 'Refugee'.
Scavenger hunt
Students in Mr. Harrison and Mrs. Seeds classes engaged in a scavenger hunt around the building in conjunction with an essential question posed to the classes.
New unit
Students were posed with the essential question as to whether technology is more helpful or controlling.
MLK day exploration
Students explored background information on Martin Luther King Jr as a part of a collaborative reading session.
TIQA structure
Students used high lighters to identified TIQA structures in their writing to further develop students writing skills.
Ms. Rizzo's class
Students in Ms. Rizzo's class were also starting new unit on the effects of technology on society.
Surviving middle school for parents
This month's topic is working memory. Does your child struggle with multi step tasks, or need to be repeatedly told how to complete tasks? This month might be for you and your child.
Athletics
Please click the link below for all of your athletic ticketing and scheduling needs.
- Varsity Ticket events are $7 up to 1 hour before the event. At the gate tickets are $8 (use of a card includes a fee at the gate). Middle School tickets are $5.
- All athletes should enter and exit the building through the 600 hall (Door 7) entrance before and after practice each day.

Transportation & Attendance information
Bus concerns:
We ask that you please contact the Transportation Department directly at 740-927-5901 with any concerns about your student’s bus (late arrival or other issues). Their phones are manned 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, and they have direct contact with all buses.
Attendance:
Please call the 24 hour WMS attendance line at (740) 927-6807 to report student absences. This voicemail box is available 24/7 and messages are retrieved on school days between the hours of 7:00am through 3:00pm.
If your student will miss school due to a pre-planned absence, please complete this Trip/Vacation Authorization Form.
