Middleton Update
October 10, 2024
Dear Middleton Families,
What a successful Fun Run Day! The weather was perfect, the kids had a blast, and we only had a few tumbles and skinned knees! Thank you for coming to cheer us on, and for donating and collecting money. And thank you to all who voluneetered to make it a successful event. HUGE THANK YOU to our PAC for all of their hard work. This is a BIG event, and we are so grateful for the amazing parents at Middleton.
Enjoy the extra day off tomorrow!

Scholastic Book Fair
We need volunteers for our Scholastic Book Fair! Please click HERE to see all the opportunites to help.
The Scholastic Book Fair is from October 21st to October 25th. The book fair is a temporary event that brings books from many publishers, including new best sellers, classics and exclusive titles to encourage reading and raise money for our school library. We will also have posters and fun items for purchase. Each class will visit the Book Fair during their library time on Monday, Tuesday or Wednseday. Families are welcome to stop by and shop on Thursday between 8:00 am and 7:30 pm and Friday from 8:00-10:00 am during our conference days.
Art Literacy
Art Literacy lessons start MONDAY, and we need your help! To help with a fun art project, sign up HERE (must have a completed background check on file). Lead teachers must have permission from our art literacy team, but helpers are always welcome! If there are already three people signed up for the classroom you’d like to help with, you are still welcome to attend without signing up. Questions? Contact Kristin at art@middletonpac.org.
Safety Drills
Over the last few years, Sherwood School District has worked diligently to establish comprehensive safety protocols and emergency procedures to keep students and staff safe in the unlikely event of an emergency.
Over the next few weeks, all schools will conduct emergency drills in order to give our students and staff an opportunity to practice. We want parents to be aware of our drills so you can visit with your children at home too if you'd like.
On Tuesday, October 15th, Middleton will practice a Lock Down Drill at 9:00 am. Other district administrators, and possibly the Sherwood Police, will be on-site to observe and provide feedback for our drill. If you are around our campus during the time of our drill, please do not be alarmed by the increased police or admin presence. If you arrive during a drill, you will not be allowed to enter and students will not be allowed to exit until the drill concludes. Please plan ahead accordingly.
For more information about our district’s emergency procedures, visit our webpage link here.

National School Lunch Week
National School Lunch Week (October 14-18) celebrates the importance of a nutritious school lunch in fueling students for success. In the 2023-24 School Year alone, the SSD Nutrition Team served over 217,000 meals to our students. That's a lot!
The Nutrition Team is celebrating by hosting a raffle contest. Next week, each student participating in School Lunch will receive a raffle entry (one entry per day). On Friday, we will announce the winner of this year’s prize, a pair of wireless Mandalorian headphones (courtesy of our industry partners). Happy National School Lunch Week!
Great Oregon Shakeout
The annual Great Oregon ShakeOut is part of an international safety preparedness program, where millions of people worldwide participate in earthquake drills on the same day. This year’s drill will be held on October 17 at 10:17 am for all of Oregon. All Sherwood schools will participate. For more information on the Great Oregon Shakeout, please visit https://www.shakeout.org/oregon/.
