FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul
This Sunday 29 June we celebrate the feast day of Saint Peter and Saint Paul
Saint Peter and Saint Paul are the principal pillars of the Church. They are two of the most well-known Saints. They each played a special and important role in building up the early Church. Saint Peter was a simple fisherman but then Jesus called him, and Peter followed. Peter became the leader of the apostles and the very first Pope.
Saint Paul was a Jew who at first was against the Christians. But then Jesus appeared to him and Paul became a Christian and a great preacher. His mission was to preach to the Gentiles, the people who didn't know about God or His promises. Не wrote many letters that are now part of the Bible.
Both Saint Peter and Saint Paul preached and taught about Jesus and brought the Faith to many people and places. We should thank God for sending us these great Saints, and we can also pray that we will help to spread the Faith.
Safety & Security of PCPS
As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the safety and security of our school, we will soon be installing a fence and gate between the administration building and ECE playground. This measure will help ensure a safer environment for all students in our care.
These works are scheduled to commence during the school holidays. Once completed, access during school hours will be managed via the main administration building, where visitors will be required to sign in.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we implement these improvements. Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.
Social Justice Fundraiser
This term, our wonderful Year 6 Ministry have been busy advertising our fundraiser coming up on Friday 4 July. Students are invited to come dressed in their pyjamas for our Pyjama Day and also our last day of school. We ask students to bring in a gold coin and dress in their warm cosy pyjamas. This theme is very fitting as we support the St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal and Life Link. Thank you to all in advance for your support towards both these worthy causes.
Reports
On Friday 4 July, the student reports for Semester 1 will be uploaded and parents will have access to these. It is important to ensure that you are able to log on to your SEQTA ENGAGE in order that you can view the reports.
The report in Semester 1 reflects your child’s progress over the two terms and should indicate how they are performing and whether they are tracking where they should be for their year level. This is a time for parents and students to reflect on their learning journey over the Semester and take the opportunity with your child to celebrate their success and also focus on areas they can improve on and learn from. We are very proud of our students here at Padbury Catholic and know that they have worked extremely hard to achieve their outcomes or are working towards these outcomes. We look forward to all students achieving their goals further in Semester 2.
Interschool Cross Country
Our Interschool Cross Country was held on Tuesday 24 June at Mawson Park. A big thank you is extended to Mr Hignett, Mr O’Mara who supported the team on the day and we thank Chloe Frkovich who also was present and assisted the team. We had a lovely day, and the rain stayed away. Our team was very impressive and should be proud of their efforts.
I would like to thank our amazing P & F committee for the organisation in ordering, cooking and selling the sausages on the day. I’d like to especially mention our two amazing parents who on the day cooked the huge amount of sausages and did a fabulous job of selling these. A big thank you goes to Renae Main Wilkson and Mairead Tome for your amazing efforts. We are truly grateful for your time and your amazing cooking skills to deliver so many sausages to the hungry crowd. It is very much appreciated by us all. A special mention goes to our wonderful students who also assisted on the day.
As we approach the school holidays I want to wish you all a safe and restful holiday as we finish our term on Friday 4 July. We return to school on the 21 July in Term 3 and look forward to seeing all our staff, students and families back.

Coding Club
Our enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 students from Coding Club participated in the Grok Academy Cyber Competition this week—an engaging online competition designed to teach and test their cyber security knowledge. Throughout the 45-minute challenge, students learned about creating secure passwords, spotting phishing attempts, adjusting security settings, and staying safe on social media. They thoroughly enjoyed working through the cyber challenges and embraced the opportunity to build their digital safety skills.
The results of the competition will be announced in the upcoming weeks. We are proud of all the students for their enthusiasm and effort!

Year One Author Visit
Today we welcomed Kylie Howarth a Western Australian well known children’s book author. Kylie has become a regular guest at Padbury Catholic Primary School over the years sharing her experience of book writing.
Kylie's visit included sharing how the ideas come into fruition for her books along with the illustration inspirations.
The children were given an opportunity to share in a drawing session and create their own illustrations.
The children have found this incursion very beneficial as it has been part of our narrative writing program completed this term.

ADMINISTRATION
Parking on Grass
Please note that parking on the grass at the front of the school is not allowed. It becomes a safety issue for people who are walking their children along the pathway. We continually are needing to replace broken sprinklers as well and the grassed area starts to dry up and die.
We request your support with this and appreciate your understanding.
Maintenance Works
Over the holidays we will have some scheduled building and preventative maintenance work being completed on the school grounds.
We are hoping that the bulk of these works will be completed in the holidays and before we return for Term 3.
JFE Uniforms
Opening Hours over School Break
During the school holidays JFE will be closing from 2pm on Friday 4 July with normal hours resuming Monday 14 July.
Any online orders placed for collection after Friday 4th July will be ready to collect Monday 14th July.

Containers for Change - Get Involved!
We’re thrilled to see the fantastic response to our Containers for Change fundraising initiative since launching at the start of the term!
Thanks to your support, we’re already on track to save over 1,000 containers from landfill in just a few short weeks. It’s a simple, sustainable action that’s making a real difference—not only for the environment but for our school too. Every 10c earned goes straight back into P&F initiatives that directly benefit our kids, our classrooms, and our community events.
Here’s how you can continue to support:
- Pop eligible 10c containers into the school collection bin in the amphitheatre.
- Bring bags of containers to school or drop them at designated points using our scheme ID.
- Scan our P&F barcode at any official Containers for Change return centre.
Already collecting at home for your own refund? No problem—this is simply another great way to contribute if you’re keen to support.
Little actions really do add up—thank you for helping us create change that counts!

Lend a Hand - Thank you, Welcome & Opportunities to Get Involved
We’re so pleased to share that several P&F roles have been filled since our last shout-out—thank you to those who’ve stepped up to support our school community! A warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to:
- Trish Egan, who will take on the Sun Smart Portfolio in 2025.
- Mairead Stafford and Renae Main Wilkinson, who are leading this year’s Interschool Sausage Sizzle and have already committed to next year—amazing!
- Claire Kelleher and Natalie Vickers, who have volunteered to coordinate the Family Mass.
We still have a few important and rewarding roles to fill, and we’d love your help! If you’re not sure where to start, please reach out to myself or any of the P&F Executive— Megann, Sara, or Severine — for a friendly chat.
We strongly encourage forming small teams to take on these roles. It lightens the load, brings people together, and makes the experience more enjoyable.
🔹 Mother’s Day 2026 Coordinators (2 x people) – Help plan a beautiful celebration that brings mums across our school together. For more information about this role – click here https://www.padcath.wa.edu.au/parents-and-friends
🔹 Sausage Sizzle Coordinators (3–4 people) – One of our biggest and most loved fundraising events! Kids adore it, and the funds raised directly support P&F initiatives that benefit our whole school community. For more information about this role – click here https://www.padcath.wa.edu.au/parents-and-friends
These activities aren’t just events—they’re community builders. They create moments of connection, fun, and belonging for families, while also helping fund important "give back" events like the Family Fun Night, Mother’s Day, Father Day, Teachers Wish list and so much more.
Random Acts of kindness - Term 3
We’re calling on our wonderful PCPS community to nominate families who you think deserve or need the use of the Car Bay for Term 3. If you know a family who could benefit from this support, please send through your nominations to Megann Hunt—we want to share a little kindness where it’s needed most!
Let's Shape 2026 Together
The P&F Executive are currently reviewing and preparing the 2026 Planner, and we’d love your input!
We’ll be spending time discussing and shaping our plans as a team during the Term 3 P&F meeting, so if you’d like to have a say or get involved in what’s to come in 2026, please come along and share your ideas.

A spectacular fortnight of netball and congratulations to players across all teams in the 6th round having a straight WIN and one draw! Round 7, was very wet, windy and cold particularly as the sun went down. Coach Rhiannon’s year 4 team demonstrated strong resilience and teamwork as they pushed through the harsh weather conditions, whilst other teams playing at the same time abandoned their games.
