Dear Franklin Academy Families,
It’s hard to believe that next week will be the last week in January! We have some exciting things coming up, and I want to take a moment to share important information with you.
Before I mention the fun events, I want to remind everyone that safety is our number one priority at Franklin. When driving on campus, please make sure to follow our one-way parking lot and adhere to the proper traffic flow when entering and exiting the campus. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our students safe.
Additionally, this is the time of year when the flu and other illnesses are more common. Please be reminded of our sick policy from the handbook, which is included below. If your child is sick, please keep them home and ensure that absences are reported via the Absence Reporting Form found in the PowerSchool Parent Portal (Forms) or the PowerSchool Mobile App.
Now, onto the exciting stuff:
-

All the Best,
Mrs. L'Etoile
Start off the year by filling out the form above to give a shout-out to a Franklin Staff Member! Your feedback is essential in recognizing the hard work and dedication of our team. By sharing your positive experiences, you help motivate our staff and contribute to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all our students. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education as we kick off this exciting new year!
Important Safety Reminder for All Families
I want to bring to your attention a concerning safety issue that occurred this week on our school grounds. While entering the school, a parent was nearly hit by a car that was making the bend to exit. If the parent hadn’t been in the third lane, there would have been a head-on collision. Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident — we witnessed three other cars driving in a similar unsafe manner this week.
Safety is our top priority, and I urge all families to please drive cautiously and follow the proper traffic flow when entering and exiting the school. Your attention to this matter will help ensure the safety of everyone on campus. Thank you for your cooperation.
Health Concerns
As we enter this time of year, we are seeing an increase in illnesses circulating throughout our school. To help prevent the spread of sickness to other students and staff, we kindly ask that you please do not send your child to school if they are feeling unwell.
If your child is sick, please be sure to complete the absence form on PowerSchool. If your child is absent for three or more days, we require a doctor's note, which can be uploaded or attached in PowerSchool.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school community healthy.

Interim Reports Feb. 7, 2025
We are already well on our way to the midpoint of the third quarter which means Q3 interim reports will be coming out soon- February 7, 2025. In the time until then, please check on your child’s progress using PowerSchool. If your child is struggling in a class, your first step is to reach out to your child’s teacher(s). They are working diligently with their students towards success.
Course Recovery for Middle School
Students who did not earn enough quality points in Q1 and Q2 will begin course recovery in February after FTE Week. Students earn quality points based on their grades. A=4 quality points; B= 3 quality points; C= 2 quality points; and D= 1 quality point. Students earn ZERO points for an ‘F’. If your child did not earn a minimum of two quality points in their core classes, they will be involved in course recovery. Students who do not pass all core classes in Middle School (6th,7th,and 8th grade) may not be able to enroll directly in High School without some form of remediation. Please review the attached Quality Points Presentation for more information.

Parent Referral Program
We are excited to announce that Franklin Academy is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 academic year, with the goal of achieving full enrollment at each grade level. To support this effort, we are launching a Parent Referral Program and encourage all of our current families to help spread the word and refer new families to our school.
By participating, families can earn service hours for each referred family that attends a campus tour. Additionally, new families will be entered into a drawing for a free Franklin uniform set upon enrollment.
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Pick up referral postcards at the front office or access digital copies on our website and in our weekly newsletter.
- Share the postcards in person, via social media, text, or email.
- Encourage referred families to attend a campus tour with completed materials.
Franklin Academy is known for its high academic standards, consistently exceeding district and state performance benchmarks. With our dedicated teachers, small class sizes, and unique IB World School designation, we ensure that your child receives the best possible education.
Thank you for being an integral part of our community and for helping us grow and strengthen the Franklin family!

In preparation for the event, teachers in Grades 3-8 will be sending out the Spelling Bee Study List in their "Peek of the Week" communications, so please be sure to check for that.

IB Five Year Evaluation- Parent Questionnaire
Franklin Academy is in the evaluation phase for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.
In order to maintain our status as an IB World School, we are required to complete a “self-study” every five years. One of the requirements of the IB Review is to involve all stakeholders (parents, students, teachers, administrators) in reflecting on the practices and standards of our IB diploma programme.
We encourage parents to be a part of the self-study process. Please complete the IB questionnaire using the link below. We look forward to your feedback.
