GMS Falcon Update

In the event of another school closure, we will be on our first "Digital Day" for Graham Middle School. GMS staff will be available to students throughout the day through email and google classroom. Teachers will also have specific times that they will host Google Meet sessions in which students can get online and ask specific questions about assignments they are to be working on during the closure.

Here is the video meet schedule for our teachers:

All Related Arts teachers: 9:00am - 10:30am

All ELA teachers: 9:15am - 10:45am

All Math teachers: 9:30am - 11:00am

All Science teachers: 9:45am - 11:15am

All Social Studies teachers: 10:00am - 11:30am

All work assigned to be completed on Digital Days is due no later than 5 school days from the closure.

We have additional packets outside the GMS office with information about the DC trip.

Payment #1 ($175) - Due February 7

Payment #2 ($225) - Due March 7

Payment #3 ($225) - Due April 11

Payment #4 ($225) - Due May 9

Remaining Balance - Due September 5

*Initial payment for the DC trip must be accompanied by both the Responsibility Contract and the Student Permission slip. Do not turn in one without the others. If you plan to use prior fundraising money as the initial payment, send in a note with the paperwork.

**Utilization of fundraising money from Rock-a-thon and a future fundraiser this spring can reduce later payment amounts.

Power of the Pen Western District Update: 8th grade team- 1st place! 7th grade team- 3rd place! There were 15 teams in each level. We had 3 individual top 10 placers in 8th grade: Kendall Nichols 4th, Daniel Spence 6th, Aubrie Campbell 9th. We will not know all Regional Qualifiers for another few weeks, but the teams did a fantastic job.

Quarter 3 Interim Report Cards will be coming home with GMS students on Thursday of next week (2/13).

Also coming home are NWEA Map Progress Reports for students. GMS students take this assessment in both reading and math. This is just one measure of student growth that we utilize and also this assessment provides us with valuable instructional information specific to your student. If your student was not enrolled in early Quarter 3, or they had repeated absences, they may not have a score as they did not complete the assessment.

Thursday, February 13 - GMS P/T Conferences #4 4:00-7:30

Conferences can be scheduled by contacting a teacher or the office.

The following 8th graders earned the right through practice and timed competition rounds to represent GMS at Ohio Hi Point in the Skilled Trades Ninja Madness Competition: Malynn Bacher, Mason Law, Aubrie Campbell, Layne Barger, Elizabeth Friis, and Grady Errett. These students will be competing against students from other county schools in entry level skilled trades such as electrical wiring, hammering, drilling, measurement, use of nuts and bolts, and plumbing.

GMS took 3rd place as a team in the Skilled Trades Ninja Madness Regional at Ohio Hi-Point. Top placers were Aubrie Campbell and Grady Errett, both earning 3rd as individuals as well.

The 2025 GMS Rock-a-thon will take place on Friday, February 21st from 6pm - midnight. Students can rock the night away to raise pledges for their future DC trip.

College Credit Plus (CCP) is an opportunity for Graham High School and Graham Middle School students to expand their educational options and take a college course(s) while in middle/high school.

Typically we have grade 8 students who wish to take CCP courses as a freshmen, however next year, the American Sign Language course that has previously available is no longer an option.

Students all have access to Progress Book via their Clever logins. Parents can access through the same login they would have used last year. Any new families should have received an access key on Friday via email from Mr. Guidera.

Frontline Education has released the Progress Book Parent and Student Mobile App (aka Parent Access app) to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This app is available for your parents/students to download and use now. For those that choose to download, the app takes the place of the mobile web version of Parent Access that parents and students have long used. In addition, Frontline has produced an overview video that can be shared with your users.
