TO DO
- Schedule time to visit with your child about their report card and WHAT has he or she learned this nine weeks!
Posts by Prindle
It's the 2nd 9 Weeks!
Our amazing Hisle staff have worked tirelessly to schedule conferences with families for this week, and it always brings about great conversation about children! Speaking of conversations, it's almost report card time. At the end of this week, each child's report card will be available on Home Access Center. Report cards are based on standards and skills your child should master so I would encourage you to open the report card, celebrate the learning, and ask a few questions. As a mom, I always had to remind myself learning is a journey and if the question I ask is yes/no..that is ALL I'm going to get from my kiddos! :) It's not about all that is mastered but the learning! A few questions you might consider asking:
- What are you excited that you learned this nine weeks?
- What do you still need to work on?
- How can I help you?
As far as learning at home and ways to help at home, there are so many ways that don't require stuff. Cooking with your child, board games, neighborhood walks, attending an extra-curricular event at the middle or high school are great and easy! Enjoy the time....it goes so fast! Mark and I still talk about how could it be that our youngest child would be 29! I think there is a saying "the days are long, but the years are short!"

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY
And some NOT so FUN NEWS from the LIBRRARY...
Learning to care for books is an important skill just like reading is. Many many many of our brand new library books are being returned with damage. Food, water, pets, and carelessness are costing families a lot of money and are keeping other kids from getting to read them. More than 10 damaged books this week alone! Please discuss ways your kids can better care for our library books. Clean out backpacks, practice putting food and drinks in designated places only away from library books, reinforce good habits of not eating or drinking while reading, make sure hands are clean when holding books, and turn pages carefully. Library books can be totally FREE when they are cared for but it gets really expensive if they are not.

Medications
Please remember that students are not allowed to carry any sort of medication at school (even cough drops are considered medication). All medication needed during the school day must go through the clinic. This is for the safety of all our students. If your child needs medication during the school day please reach out to me at kimberly.dodd@leanderisd.org or (512)570-8427 and I am happy to guide you through the process. District medication procedures can be found here: Medication Procedures.pdf - Google Drive.
