First Full Week in the books!
Our students had so much fun at our all-school assembly last week on Friday! Our theme this year is TEAMWORK! Each class came up with a "team name" and were recognized for completing all of their "training sessions" last week (aka: learning the school expectations). Ask your child what their team name name for class is!
As we get into the school year, communication is going to be key, and it goes both ways! Please know that we will always do our best to communicate important information with you at the school level, along with progress and updates on how your child is doing from their teachers. We strive to keep you infomed with balanced communication. You will get school and district information over email and via the Smore newsletter, Class information via Seesaw, and 1:1 communication from the teacher via your preferred method. Please never hesitate to reach out at any time with questions, concerns, ideas, and suggestions. We know from years experience that together we are better! We appreciate a strong family-school partnership, which sets the tone for student success.

Car Loop Dismissal Request
Thanks to those families who use the car loop at dismissal for the continued improvement. It is noticed and appreciated! ANOTHER REQUEST: Some families have started to take their car signs down right away as soon as their child is called in the loop, and sometimes their child needs to be called again by the time they get to the top of the loop by the cone. It would help and be quicker if you can please keep your car sign up UNTIL your child is all the way in your vehicle. It would also be a quick visual for the people outside to see if their student is in their car. Thank you!
McFarland School District Expectations for Sports Home Games
Lloyd Schneider Stadium / William J. Rice Field
McFarland High School athletes enjoy positive support from their fellow students, parents, and the community. We continue to welcome elementary, intermediate and middle school students to the high school games and we want to create the best possible circumstances for their safety. In order to maintain a safe environment at our home games, the following practices will be enforced:
- Elementary, intermediate and middle school students need to be accompanied by an adult in order to gain entrance into the stadium. Adults bringing elementary and intermediate students must sit with those students during the game. Middle school students accompanied by an adult can sit at the top of the designated student section or sit with the adult that brought them. It is important that school personnel managing the event have the ability to contact an adult on site if there is a concern.
- “Carry-ins” by all spectators will not be allowed. Items include bottled or canned beverages, soda fountain cups, footballs, frisbees, etc.
- Backpacks and large bags are not allowed. Purses are subject to search.
- All students are expected to be in the stadium seats cheering for the Spartans unless they are using the restroom or concessions. For everyone’s safety, no football games or similar activities that would encourage running and throwing of objects are allowed. It is expected that our students are NOT playing on the IMMS playground or running around the IMMS school grounds. Re-entry to the event is NOT allowed.
- Always exhibit good sportsmanship:
- Be quiet and respectful during the National Anthem and School Songs.
- Never boo or yell at officials or opposing players.
- Cheer positively for the Spartans!

Update from 9/13/24 Home Football Game
We want to address some concerns from last Friday's football game. It was reported by Officer Zietsma, MSD School Resource Officer, that many middle school students were not following the expected behavior guidelines. Officer Zietsma witnessed throwing items off the bleachers, shoving, playfighting, playing football behind the stands, using the IMMS playground, and attempting to access equipment from the locked shed. Below are the Home Game Expectations. Please pay special attention attention to the following:
Elementary, intermediate and middle school students need to be accompanied by an adult in order to gain entrance into the stadium. Adults bringing elementary and intermediate students must sit with those students during the game. Middle school students accompanied by an adult can sit at the top of the designated student section or sit with the adult that brought them.

It's important to remember that while our high school football games are a wonderful community event, they are intended as an opportunity to support our Spartans by watching and cheering for the team.

WI School Immunization Requirements & Vaccine Clinics
Every school in Wisconsin is required by law to report their student’s vaccination status to the local health department 30 days after the start of school. See WI Student Immunization Law by Age/Grade Requirements. Your student’s health assistant will be sending out legal notices at that time if the school has no record or if your student’s immunization status is “behind schedule”. If you are not sure if your student is up to date with immunizations, you can contact your doctor's office/My chart or you can look them up on the Wisconsin Immunization Registry using your child's social security number and/or Medical ID. If you need access to a waiver (for personal, religious or health reasons) for any vaccination, please utilize the student immunization record (English, Spanish) see step 4 and return it to your student’s health office.
Vaccine Clinics: Public Health Madison & Dane County is partnering with Madison Metropolitan School District and SSM Health in a few weeks to offer more school vaccine clinics to get students up to date on their school vaccines in time for the 2024-25 school year.
