I would like to take this opportunity to wish our wonderful students a well deserved break with family/ whānau and friends. A special mention must go to our school community for your continued support, it is greatly appreciated.

On Wednesday, Stanley Avenue School hosted representatives from 40 schools across the greater Waikato region. The Waikato Full Primary is exclusive to Year 7/8 runners only from full primary schools. The weather was sweltering from early in the day and some stand out performances were achieved from our Stanley Avenue runners.

In large fields (average 70 runners) our students ran to the best of their abilities and produced some great results. Of note, Xavier Van Kuijk came 2nd, Blake Watts 6th, Connor Wood 12th and Charlie Knight 13th, all in the Year 8 Boys race. This meant they were the top placed Year 8 Boys team overall. In the Year 7 Boys race, Erik Pollock ran a great race and finished 11th in a fast race.

For the second year in a row the entire Stanley Avenue team placed second overall in the 100-300 schools category. A tremendous achievement!

A big thank you must go to our staff, parents and community members who assisted and made the day the success it was.

On Friday 27th October, Stanley Avenue School will be closed for instruction. As a teaching team we will be undertaking professional development based around the significant changes in curriculum and assessment for 2024 and beyond. We thank you for your cooperation and support in advance.

The Stanley Avenue Board of Trustees is excited to announce that students who achieve 90% attendance over Term 4, will get a family/ whānau entry for the $100 Pressie Card Prize Draw. In addition to the pressie card, there will be a family entry to the Te Aroha Pools up for grabs. Term 4 attendance will be calculated at the end of Week 9. Outstanding attendance certificates for Term 3 will be presented early Term 4.

.... in Term 4, hats are compulsory. Our school bucket hats are available at the office for $12.00

Waka t-shirts will also be needed for school athletics days and are available from the uniform room or school office for $11.00.

On Tuesday the students challenged the staff to the annual 'Netball' game. I use this term loosely as at times I'm not sure the staff knew what game we were playing! Our Year 8 team lined up against the staff brimming with confidence....and it proved to be justified. The students jumped out to a 5 - 1 lead at half time, but after a good team talk...and extra heavy deep breathing....the staff managed to score twice more...and kept the result to a not so embarassing 8-3 win to the students. Stand out players for the staff were Mr Byers and Mrs Hamilton. Scoring 3 goals was an impressive effort and even better...no injuries.

Well done to the Year 8 team. They have had a very successful 2023 and we hope they go on to college and experience the same success.

Matamata-Piako District Council are working with your school and Traffic Planning Consultants (TPC) to create a School Travel Plan to help make it safer and easier for students to walk, bike or scoot to school. The School Travel Plan will identify current issues/concerns and barriers to children walking, biking and scooting to school and aims to provide safer solutions alongside encouraging behavioural changes to continue making these solutions safe for the long term.

Although there is no budget allocated to making physical improvements at this stage, we are working with interested schools to make positive behavioural changes which will improve immediate safety and wellbeing and to make a plan so we are ready to take action when funding becomes available.

First Club night is Tuesday 10th October 2023. Which is also our try it out night for anyone wishing to see what the club is all about (you do not have to be registered to try it out)
