NOVEMBER CHARACTER TRAIT

Novembers Character Strong trait of the month is GRATITUDE. Gratitude is choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives. This month our Stars will be talking about the importance of being grateful and ways that we can show our gratitude to others. What are some ways that you and your family show your gratitude? The staff here at Sand Creek sure are grateful for our wonderful parents and families for all that they do for us!

NO SCHOOL NOVEMBER 5TH

Tomorrow is Election Day and several schools are being used as polling sites, so there will be NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS on Tuesday, November 5th. It will be a district wide Staff Development Day.

Last Chance to RSVP - Upcoming Veterans Day Celebration

Veterans, thank you for your service! We want to honor anyone who has served our country in any branch of the military. If there is a veteran in your family who would be interested in joining our Sand Creek Elementary Veterans Day Celebration, please RSVP with your intent to attend.


The program will begin on Monday, November 11th, 2024 with light refreshments beginning at 9:40 am and a special school program following in the gym from 10:00 - 10:40 am.

MATH NIGHT - NOVEMBER 12TH

Mark your calendars for our next Family Engagement Night! Tuesday, November 12th we will be holding a Math Night here for all students and their families from 5:30 - 7:00pm. This was previously scheduled for the 14th, but had to be shifted due to Mathnasium's availability. Please RSVP below to let us know if you will be attending!

CHILLY WEATHER IS HERE

Ready or not, winter is on its way! The temperature has dropped and we are heading into the cold months. Make sure your Stars are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess each and every day. And label everything, please.

PTO Fundraiser Update

The PTO is thrilled to share the fantastic success of our recent school fundraiser with Cherry USA! Thanks to the hard work of our students, the support of their families, and generous direct donations, we raised over $13,000! These funds will go a long way in supporting wonderful events and initiatives for our school, including the Holiday Shop, Family, Fun, and Art Night, Fun and Fitness t-shirts, and much more. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make this possible—your support truly makes a difference!

5th Grade Butter Braids Sale

Starting November 15th, our 5th grade Stars will be selling Butter Braids as a fundraiser for the annual 5th Grade Long Lake Conservation trip in April. On that day there will be a presentation to the grade level and they will receive all the materials needed. The Butter Braid sale helps decrease their individual costs for this wonderful trip.

These yummy pastries are easy to sell to your local friends and family - they are so delicious they practically sell themselves! They are great to have on hand for the upcoming holiday gatherings. Or for a cold, snowy morning just because! Look for more information coming home soon from your 5th grade student.

HOLIDAY SHOP RETURNS

Mark your calendars! Our Holiday Shop will be open on Saturday, December 7, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the school gym. This is a wonderful chance for students to experience the joy of giving as they shop for thoughtful gifts for family and friends, with help from our dedicated volunteers. Gifts start at just 25¢, making it a fun and affordable way for kids to spread holiday cheer!

Parenting Workshops

Online parenting workshops for Pre-K to Grade 3 are coming up in November and January.

Virtual flyer gallery - Opportunities for families from local nonprofit groups

The Anoka-Hennepin School District allows qualifying flyers from nonprofit groups to be distributed at school and sent home with students. These flyers have gone through the district approval process. A virtual gallery of flyers is also available. These events, classes and activities are not sponsored or endorsed by Anoka-Hennepin Schools.

VSC Corner

Vicki Mochinski is our wonderful Volunteer Services Coordinator here at Sand Creek. She always has volunteer opportunities available if you are interested! Click HERE to fill out the forms to be able to volunteer - and also to be ready for those Field Trips that are coming around.

There are so many ways to help out our school, not only by volunteering, but monetarily. Did you know that you can download the Box Tops App to earn free money for our school. There really is an app for everything!
