November 2024 Newsletter
A Message from your Principal
Dear Rainiers,
As we step into November, I am reminded of all the things we have to be grateful for within our Columbia Crest Academy community. First and foremost, thank you for entrusting us with your incredible children. Each day we are inspired by their energy, curiosity, and growth. Your involvement in their education has created a wonderful, supportive environment that fosters their success.
This year, the generosity of our community has once again been overwhelming. Thanks to our amazing PTO and your support, we raised $9,300 for programs, assemblies, and events that will enrich the educational experience for all of our students through our Apex fundraiser! It truly takes a village, and we are so lucky to have each of you be part of this one.
We also want to give a huge shout-out to the incredible volunteers and staff who keep everything running smoothly - from classroom activities to school events, your dedication makes a lasting impact. We're excited to announce some staffing updates at Columbia Crest Academy! We're excited to announce some staffing updates at Columbia Crest Academy! We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Pixler as our Special Education Resource Support Paraeducator. In a new role, Ms. Mackey has joined our team as an Instructional Support Paraeducator.
As we settle into the school year, our nature-based program has truly taken root, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how the first couple of months have unfolded! Our students have embraced learning outdoors with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a sense of adventure. Whether it’s exploring the local forest during hikes, engaging in hands-on science activities, or simply observing the changing seasons around us, their connection to the natural world continues to grow.
Our staff has worked hard to weave nature into every part of the curriculum, from math and reading to art and science, creating rich, meaningful learning experiences. We are grateful for the community’s support in making this program a success so far, and we can’t wait to see how it evolves throughout the year.

Warm Clothing and Footwear Reminder: As the mornings get colder, please ensure your child comes to school with a warm coat and proper footwear. Since we are a nature-based school and spend time outdoors daily, it's important that students are prepared for the elements with appropriate clothing and shoes.
Spare Clothes: Preschool-2nd grade students should have a spare change of clothes in case of an emergency.
Changes in Transportation: Please submit this link before 1pm any day that your child has a change in how they are getting home.
As we move through this season of thankfulness and giving, we want to extend our deepest appreciation for all that you do. Your partnership is invaluable, and together, we are creating an incredible learning environment for our students.
With Gratitude,
Principal Burslem
