Announcing the Launch of Sources of Strength at GHS:
At Goshen High School, we are proud to announce the launch of Sources of Strength, a wellness program aimed at empowering students to foster personal and community well-being. Focused on eight key areas of wellness, the program encourages student-led campaigns to develop these wellness dimensions and leverage them during challenging times.
Students selected to participate in Sources of Strength were chosen by teachers, support staff, coaches, and administration because of the positive influence they have among their peers. These peer leaders play a critical role in promoting mental health, resilience, and support within our school.
Recently, Sources of Strength National Trainers conducted an engaging workshop for our peer leaders, guiding them through team-building activities designed to highlight the significant impact the program can have on school culture. The peer leaders identified specific goals for promoting wellness within the student body and brainstormed creative campaigns to align with these objectives.
In addition to leading wellness initiatives, Sources Staff Advisors at Goshen High School are working closely with the peer leaders to support and guide the implementation of their campaigns. Peer leaders are also encouraged to act as connectors—linking peers in need with counselors and trusted school staff, ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need.
We are excited to see how Sources of Strength will continue to shape a supportive and connected environment at Goshen High School, helping students build resilience and thrive in every aspect of their lives.

SENIORS: College Application Reminders:
Mrs. Mantz and Mrs. Royal wanted to send out a reminder about college applications as we have some quickly approaching deadlines. Although a large number of college applications are due by December 1st, there are some colleges, including The Ohio State, that have early action deadlines of November 1st. This means that if you are planning on applying to college and haven't started the process yet, it is definitely time to start NOW!
Below is the Applying to College 101 document that we have gone over with you all and sent out a few times. We have made some edits to the document and added in some additional helpful information and details including more links to video clips on using SchooLinks. We also added some information about financial aid, which we will cover in more detail in an upcoming Warrior Up bell. From our experience and through working with many of you so far this year, this program seems very user friendly and we feel strongly that using this program will be an easy part of your college application process!
Applying to College 101 - Steps and Information!
As always, please reach out to Mrs. Royal or Mrs. Mantz if you have any questions at all!

Cell Phones: House Bill 250, which was signed into law by Governor DeWine, limits the use of cell phones and other wireless devices in our schools. Goshen Local Schools agrees with the research behind HB250 and with limiting the distractions that cell phone use creates for our students. With that in mind, below are the proposed changes to our cell phone practices and student handbook policies for the 2024-2025 school year, pending Board approval. Students are permitted to have cell phones on campus. Students are not permitted to use phones during class time or to take phones to the restroom. The expectation is for cell phones and wireless earbuds/headphones/AirPods to be put away and silenced in the classroom unless documented in IEP/504 or for documented health concerns. Students may access their devices before school, during lunch, and after school. To ensure compliance with these guidelines, the following consequences will be enforced:
Consequence for violating cellphone guidelines
1st offense (Classroom) - warning provided and parent contacted by teacher
2nd offense (Strike 1 in Office) - phone sent to office, parent contacted, and student can pick up phone from office at the end of the day
3rd offense (Strike 2 in Office) - phone sent to office, device must be picked up by the parent/guardian, and conversation is had about the repercussions if a student earns Strike 3.
4th offense (Strike 3 in Office) - phone sent to office, device must be picked up by the parent/guardian, and the device is not permitted to return to the school building for a designated amount of time up to and including the rest of the school year.
Chronic abuse of cell phone privileges will result in appropriate disciplinary measures up to and including suspension from school.
