MT's purpose is to educate and empower students to become responsible citizens.
A Few Words From the Principal
Kindness matters!
This week we have talked to many students about being kind to others. Parents here are some of the topics we have been discussing and they may be conversations to have with your student:
- If you have someone who you have been a friend with for awhile and you no longer want to be their friend. What do you do?
- What do you do if a group of people are being unkind to someone?
- What do you do if someone is annoying you in class?
- What is your student's social media footprint? Are they protecting themselves on social media?
- What do you do when someone is being unkind on social media?
All of these are topics that we will be discussing and doing activities around in the next few months.
Thank you for your support.

Reminders & Information
Carloop Safety
Parents/Guardians picking up students after school in the back lot - please DO NOT park in the parking lot and have your student walk through traffic to get to you. The few minutes you might save aren't worth the risk to our students and the staff who work to keep them safe. Please utilize the carloop pickup at the curb to keep traffic flowing and students out of harm's way. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Good Things at MTMS
Student Council
StuCo volunteers assisted with the City of Shawnee's Kids Night Out program at the Civic Centre!
Thank you to Carter, Jill, Annabelle, Camryn, Maylee, Alexa, Lillian, and Keaton for giving kids a fun and safe night and parents a little break!
7th Grade Social Studies
7th graders worked on practicing scale in Geography by measuring their state in miles and then converting to inches. They then drew their state to scale and researched information about their state.
We grouped 1st and 2nd hours, 3rd and 5th, and then 7th and 8th hours to try and create a United States map!
These pictures don’t do the states or U.S. map justice! Parents are invited to come see their student’s states and class maps at the first Showcase Night on October 10!
Nurse's Newsletter
Allergy season continues! The nurse’s office doesn’t supply medication for seasonal allergies. Please have your student take allergy medication at home. There are several over-the-counter medications that work 24 hours available. There are over-the-counter-eye drops made especially for allergies also available. The nurse’s office also does not supply cold medication. Please administer at home.

If your student forgets to take medication before school or you bring medication for your student, you will be asked to stay and administer the medication to your student.
Illness
Please report any symptoms of illness to the school. Please be specific- report symptoms such as sore throat, nausea, fever instead of reporting “ill” or “sick”. Giving symptoms helps with Health Department reporting and to see illness trends in the district.
It is district policy to keep your student home until symptom free/fever free for 24 hours without medication. It will help to prevent the spread of illness.
