We Are Grateful for Our Families! đź’›
Mrs. B's Buzz
Welcome to November! This certainly is the month for us all to reflect on the many blessings bestowed upon us! I would like to personally thank the HLA Community for making Healthy Learning Academy a wonderful place to be! I am thankful for a true sense of community that is demonstrated daily at HLA, whether academically, socially or emotionally everyone pulls together to help our students succeed!
I would also like to thank all of our parents and grandparents who are actively serving or have served in the armed forces. Thank you for your service!
As mandatory parent teacher conference days approach, I hope that you will embrace the opportunity to meet with your child's teacher regarding their academic and behavioral progress so far this school year. Conferences are an important component to ensure that we work together to maximize your child's full potential. I encourage you to stay in close communication with your child's teacher, and most importantly to stay involved in their education. Progress reports for the second quarter will be available on Skyward Family Access on November 21.
Congratulations to Mrs. Julie Williams for being selected as our "Golden Apple Award" Recipient for the first quarter! Ms. Julie joined our team in August of 2022. She is an integral part of our teaching team! Way to go Ms. Julie!!
The Holidays are quickly approaching, with that being said if you plan on purchasing an instrument for your child and would like some guidance or advise on what might be the perfect instrument please contact Ms. Katje at kjanisch@hlacharter.com.
In closing, Thanksgiving break is November 25-29, 2024. I hope you and your family have a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving and being thankful for everything we have and enjoy!
All the best,
Mrs. Borganelli

Hello HLA families!
The SEL Character trait for November is Gratitude, which is perfect as we approach Thanksgiving! One way to think about Gratitude is “choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives.” Practicing Gratitude can increase our well-being and our happiness.
This month during our SEL lessons, HLA students will practice using the “Emotion Elements” to identify how they feel. Learn more about the “Emotional Elements” below:
Emotion Elements:
â—Ź Wind represents feeling words like inspired, anxious, playful, and nervous.
â—Ź Water represents feeling words like concerned, thoughtful, tired, and bored.
â—Ź Fire represents feeling words like annoyed, overwhelmed, excited, and scared.
â—Ź Earth represents feeling words like motivated, focused, confident, and proud.
Reminder about Resources:
“Food4Kids” is available to any students who may be in need of extra food at their homes during weekends and holiday breaks.
Hazel Health can provide free teletherapy to our students, regardless of insurance status. More information can be found at getstarted.hazel.co.
I am always here to assist you and your students! Please feel free to reach out to me at any time about these resources, or if you have any questions and/or concerns.
Thank you for all you do - have a great month!
Warmly,
Ms. Bowser
